Not only do I understand the challenge in picking up the phone to make that first phone call for help, I understand and am mindful of the challenges of following through with this, every step of the way. I see my role as a therapist as helping each of my clients to move toward their best life. I work collaboratively with my clients to figure out what that means for them, and am mindful that my job as a therapist is to work myself out of a job.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over eight years of experience, I specialize in addressing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) If you are ready to embark on the journey toward mental wellness, I invite you to reach out to me via phone or email for a complimentary 15 minute consult.
Anxiety can deprive us of what is most important in our lives. It can make us feel out of control, overwhelmed, inadequate, and unsafe. We may worry that therapy will make anxiety and obsessions worse. However, symptoms of anxiety and trauma can be treated. Using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), we can effectively address anxious thoughts and behaviors.

I have been an eating disorders specialist since 1995, treating people with Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge eating. I welcome clients into a supportive, confidential, and safe environment, as I understand how difficult it can be to to take the first step toward treatment. Having recovered from an eating disorder long ago, my treatment style is compassionate, individualized, and client focused. I know how hard it can be to get well. I see clients with varying emotional issues, because these issues also underly eating disorders. People who meet with me have concerns to address in therapy such as anxiety, depression and OCD.

My clients experience have a range of problems, including depression, OCD, anxiety, marriage problems, drugs and alcohol, anger, and many others.
There are no ideal clients. I believe they are all interesting and they are all human beings; each with their own imperfections. I have learned to listen to them carefully and help them set their own goals. Many have daily life problems such as a depression caused by loss. Others caused by stress. Some have anger issues related to the childhood experiences, others related to frustration. Some come to me because of difficulties in a relationship. Some have difficulties with communication. All my patients want to be understood.

These symptoms & feelings do not have to be your reality anymore. Therapy can be difficult. But it is incredibly rewarding when approached sensitively and intentionally. Freedom is possible.

Life changes and trauma can lead to disconnection from ourselves and others. This disconnection can manifest as anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Through therapy, we can untangle the changes and trauma so we can truly hear ourselves. Our work might include emotional processing and regulation, self-compassion, self-acceptance, and mind-body awareness. At each step, I will check in with you and guide the pacing to fit your needs and goals. (See my website for more information.) Authorized to practice in all PsyPact states via telepsychology.

One of the most difficult things we can experience is in not knowing what comes next. Maybe you feel lost, confused, or broken - that some part of you is missing, and the daily struggle to keep it together for yourself or your loved ones feels impossibly overwhelming. Maintaining the obligations of family, work, and friendships can be so exhausting that it seems easier to avoid them altogether. Maybe you’ve considered therapy before, but thought it was too expensive, time consuming, or worry you might be seen as "weak." But how would it feel to find yourself again? To stop, catch your breath, and learn to find peace among the chaos?

Are you feeling run-down, overwhelmed, or numb? Do you feel 'just blah' most of the time? This is such a painful experience, and you are not alone. We are conditioned as children to do and be what we are 'supposed to,' and this can become destructive to our mental health as adults.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
