I have extensive training and experience in treating both children and adults with anxiety and related disorders including OCD, Social and Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and Phobias.
If you find that thoughts, feelings, and urges are getting in the way of living your best life, I will help you develop new skills to address these difficulties. Whether you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, motivation difficulties, anxiety or fears about the world or the future, I will create an individualized treatment plan that helps you move forward in life. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), our sessions will examine the factors that are getting in the way before working on concrete steps to overcome these difficulties.

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor who specializes in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression. While I tailor my specific approach to each individual client, I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP). For the treatment of depression, I also use behavioral activation to help clients decrease avoidance in their lives and begin to engage in activities that will help improve their mood.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) does not have to rule your life! There is help.
Obsessive thoughts won't leave you and have you worrying uncontrollably. You have fears that don't make sense to others, but you must take action or avoid people, relationships, places to keep yourself and others safe. You doubt your decision and actions all the time and it stresses you out that you can't be sure if you did the right thing. You do things that feel out of your control, repetitive, and take a lot of time. Either you struggle to function in relationships, or it takes tremendous effort to do what you need to get done. All of the time you are anxious, thinking, and exhausted.

I specialize in stress, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and people-pleasing.
On the outside you appear calm and steady, on the inside you feel tense and preoccupied, pushing aside your own needs to attend to the issue in front of you. You're high functioning, yet you hold yourself back from fully engaging with others and your own interests. Maybe you don’t even know what you enjoy because you’ve been so focused on prioritizing others. You find yourself going about your routines and trying to feel relief, but your current ways of operating are contributing to a build up of stress. Maybe you’ve limited your world, told yourself what you can and cannot do, and now you’re wondering how much you can change.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
