I work with people to find a path to less stress, more enjoyment & pleasure in life. Working together we can develop & enhance the experiences of your life to feel more whole and fulfilling. Create a life more satisfying; transmute stress causing difficulty into energy for working towards your goals. Sometimes we are stuck in life situations that block creativity and success. Goals often include happiness, pain relief (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional), finding passion, achievement, self-awareness, productivity, insight, more socialization, healthy relationships (a new one), freedom, joy, meaning, and contentment with life.

As a mindfulness based practitioner, I believe an environment of nonjudgmental awareness enables one to stay open to their experience in order to utilize it for transformation. In fact, Temanos means “a safe place for transformation”. I honor people's circumstances, thoughts, feelings and behaviors and value getting to the heart of the matter. Traumatic experiences shape us in known and unknown ways. I help clients find their innate strength, courage and wisdom to face life's challenges.

Effective 3/8/2022: UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOT ABLE TO ADD NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME. I am interested in working with clients who could benefit from a patient and caring approach to easing distress and solving problems. My years of experience have taught me that the best focus in counseling is to use the strengths of the client as well as desire to change for the better in finding answers and developing skills.

In this work I have learned to keep an open mind and an open heart. My ideal client is anyone that walks through my door needing and wanting help. It is my hope to build a relationship that opens the door for healing. This is hopefully created through empathy, compassion and connection. It is my belief that if an individual can heal and learn to live in meaningful ways with authenticity. As a person of faith, I also offer Christian Biblical Counseling. It is my hope to be able to be a support to the faith community by offering licensed counseling with a Biblical perspective.

I am a licensed clinical therapist, who has over a decade of experience in the treatment of individuals as well as family systems. I began my experience in the field of Wilderness Therapy where I continue to draw from nature's inherent healing capacity. I operate from a strength-based perspective while utilizing knowledge of the most current research based treatment. I believe our life experience is a journey of change and transformation. When we take the courage to address our greatest conflicts, we enter a gateway to open to our greatest potential.

Life is full of changes, some good, some difficult. Managing these changes sometimes overwhelms the individual to the point of needing help. All of us, at some point, would benefit from someone to come along side of us to help us learn to accept, adjust, move in a different direction, or just talk about it. Are you that someone, struggling in some area of your life, and wishing there was some way to figure out why this is happening, or what to do next? Do you have an existing mental health disorder that you are now struggling with? If so, please seek some assistance in order for you to learn to cope with your challenges.

I understand reaching out for help is not easy and how much courage and hard work it takes for people to make real change, find hope, and create a meaningful life. I specialize in helping people who have troubled relationships, low self-esteem, addiction, depression, and anxiety. I have many years of experience working with clients in sorting out how mood (e.g., depression and anxiety), personality, and substance use interfere with changing behavior and reaching goals.

It is tough times right now! People are struggling. I am here to give you the tools to feel better and to heal whatever you have gone through. I help people work through addiction recovery, anxiety, depression and difficult relationships. Having a strength-based approach that focuses on wellness and getting unstuck from repeating cycles is the approach I take. I work with anxiety, OCD, depression, addiction (alcohol, sexual, drug, spending, overeating, and work). I also work with chronic pain issues from a place of helping people express emotion. I do both in person and teleconferencing counseling at this time.

I love working with clients who are ready for change! Being sick and tired of being sick and tired is the greatest motivation, because it comes from within and propels you towards a better way of being. I feel so honored to be a part of my clients' journey's towards becoming who they've always wanted to, sometimes in unexpected ways!

I enjoy working with children, adolescents and young adults but will work with most any person. I really enjoy working with people who are willing to take on some out-of-session work and return with insights or at least insight about what's not working. I see my job as helping to remove barriers to the experience of feeling whole, safe and complete and I have many tools to help remove those barriers. Our job will be to find the Centered Self and learn ways to return to that Self more often during the day as we can.

I have deep respect for all of my patients. Therapy involves change, openness, and willingness, and is a personal investment. For these reasons, I believe that the treatment you receive should be effective, and I use a blend of established research and your personal goals to ensure that it is.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed by the Idaho Department of Occupational Licensing. I have been in private practice since 2012. My passion is the restoration of the marriage relationship, even when it may seem that all is lost (especially as it relates to infidelity and trust). I am well-versed in the treatment of most mental health issues (especially depression and anxiety). I also am now providing EMDR therapy.

As we go through life, stressors and changes often cause us to disconnect from ourselves and our inner emotions, needs, dreams, and values. Whether those stressors are relationship challenges, grief and loss, life transitions or other changes, it is important to return to focusing on what is in our control and begin the process of reconnecting with oneself and exploring what our reactions may be trying to tell us. Therapy can be a great space to begin that process.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
