I come to work each day with the same goal: To make a difference in the lives of others. My approach to therapy is to get to know each client I serve and build an individual treatment plan that helps them achieve their goals and thrive. My office is a safe space where you can feel comfortable opening up and finding the skills that are the best fit for you. It’s my belief that personal awareness is key to bringing forth change. The more you are aware of your feelings and thoughts, the more you can make a change. Together, let’s take the steps you need to make a positive change in your life.

My clinical training has provided me with experience and knowledge working with self compassion, shame, anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, body image issues, motherhood, and life cycle transitions.
Each one of us possesses a vastly different collection of experiences, which means we all view life differently. This is one reason I value a collaborative approach when working with you. As your therapist, I believe that you are the expert of your life. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and to work together to develop a treatment approach based upon your unique desires and needs. While utilizing a non-judgmental, flexible approach, it is my duty to help you uncover your hopes and to create the future you wish to see. I hope to help you find the courage to embrace vulnerability and show up as the most authentic you.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, stress, life transitions, relational struggles, work-related issues, school/college-related issues, parenting struggles, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, low self-esteem, trauma, women's issues, and many other struggles.
Hi there and congratulations on taking the possibly daunting step towards finding a therapist. I don't know you, but I know that takes courage. My style as a therapist can be described as collaborative, curious, responsive, intentional, and above all else, human. Although we are all experiencing this wild ride called life, I know that no two stories/individuals are the same. I'm genuinely curious about my clients and what makes them who they are, which leads way to individualized care and true understanding.

I live with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and I have learned to let it color my life, not control it.
Are you ready to live, laugh, and love again? (Did I really just open my Psychology Today profile by ripping off everyone’s favorite/least favorite home décor slogan?) Seriously, though, life is too short to be miserable. It’s my hope that our time together will empower you to live with more purpose. I approach therapy in an informal way, because counseling doesn’t have to be so uptight. It’s OK to laugh! I spent 23 years as a newspaper feature writer before changing careers, writing thousands of stories. I now want my clients to look at the narrative of their lives and choose, for themselves, the direction their own story takes.

Now accepting new clients. When we face challenges in life, we go to what has worked in the past. We distract ourselves, distance ourselves, or self-medicate with food, relationships, substances and more. At some point, these methods do more harm than good. Let's work together to identify the ways you cope and find better options. I will create a comfortable and safe environment free from judgment that encourages self-discovery. I have experience helping people with trauma, relationships, self-esteem, body image, substance use, anxiety, depression, OCD, binge eating disorder, suicidal thoughts and more.

I specialize in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD, trauma, parenting, and life transitions work.
Overwhelmed, it's hard to breathe, tears well in your eyes, and you are fatigued with worry. Maybe the flood of emotions started recently or years ago. Perhaps someone hurt you, you saw something terrible happen, or you always felt down, scared and alone. You want nothing more then to feel confident again to move forward; free from hurt. My focus is on helping others resolve what is most troubling for them.

I have a therapeutic background in depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD and difficult life transitions.
Seeking therapy can feel daunting, but you don't have to walk alone. As a Middle Eastern therapist, I create a warm and welcoming space where you can be understood and supported on your unique journey of healing and growth. My approach to therapy is inclusive and collaborative. I believe in ditching the "one-size-fits-all" model to craft a personalized roadmap with you, while also being mindful of your cultural and spiritual background

Throughout my career, I've found fulfillment in helping others discover their goals and potential. For the past 12 years, I've had the honor of working with servicemen in the military and their families, and I'm happy to now also serve the public beyond. My treatment approach addresses a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, divorce, grief, anger management, OCD, and ADHD. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) that I use to reprocess trauma and treat OCD, self-worth, and anxiety. I see children and individuals age 8 through adult.

I provide a very straight-forward and direct solution focused approach for addressing barriers of life. I understand that sometimes we all can use a safe space to process situations that come along with being human in a sometimes less than humane world. I provide guidance through instructing the use of various breathing exercises, grounding, stabilization, and relaxation techniques to provide clients with tools for minimizing stress responses.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
