You are feeling trapped. Stuck in a seemingly endless loop of unwanted thoughts, fears, or painful memories. You feel like the only way to get relief is to avoid what hurts or do something…anything to quiet the thoughts. Your symptoms have made your life smaller and smaller until you don't even recognize who you are or who you were meant to be. You only see your symptoms. OCD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and/or trauma make you feel like you are on an island alone.

My areas of clinical focus are relationship issues, men's issues, and OCD (using ERP), but I work with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, spirituality.
If you are struggling in your current relationship or have been unsuccessful in past attempts to develop healthy relationships, I'm here to help you identify what needs to change and take steps towards your goals. Whether it is difficulty with emotions, unhelpful beliefs, or destructive behavioral patterns, we will get to the root issues and develop a plan. I'm an especially good fit for people who appreciate a warm but direct approach to therapy and are motivated to change. I will carefully and empathically listen to your concerns, while also challenging you to lean into the difficult areas of your life as you change and grow.

It can be really overwhelming searching for the right therapist, especially with the amount of help available. It may even add to the stress, anxiety, and indecision you’re already feeling. You may have an idea of what you’re coping with or may be unsure. Perhaps you have had some experience in therapy or this is your first time - maybe you feel you’ve tried everything and still no relief. No matter where you are in your mental health journey, I hope to provide you with your own unique treatment experience. I specialize in helping people to get relief from OCD, anxiety, phobias, negative body image, disordered eating, and trauma.

OCD is exhausting, depressing, hinders productivity and prevents you from enjoying life to the full. You've probably felt shame, or maybe you've hidden the special tricks that have helped with decreasing your OCD anxiety. You feel stuck and it's hard to be confident in your decisions. It would be nice to have one moment of relief, where your thoughts don't feel like they're spinning out of control. You're desperate to have clarity around everything you've been feeling for so long, especially your concerns about contamination, sexual orientation, religion, violence, pedophilia, health or harm.

I graduated with my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in 2020 and I have experience working with those dealing with childhood trauma, attachment concerns, sexual assault, eating disorders, body image issues, OCD, ADHD, relationship concerns, and family of origin concerns.
If you have made your way to my profile, welcome! My name is Whitney and I have a passion for being with people as they navigate the ups and downs of life. Some people have never been provided with a safe place to be themselves and truly be vulnerable, and I strive to create that space for my clients. I often bring aspects of my personality to the therapy room, encouraging clients to do the same! My promise to you is that I will seek to understand your struggles and your worldview. I believe I can help by offering a compassionate ear, coping skills, and a safe place to process emotions.

I specialize in helping people recover from complex anxiety- and trauma-related disorders, such as PTSD, OCD, and anxiety problems such as chronic worry, health-related fears, and panic attacks.
You're looking for treatment that will really help - more than what a friend could offer, more than just support and a listening ear. You're suffering with symptoms like intense anxiety, life-limiting fears, unwanted thoughts or memories, or sleepless nights, and you want something that offers healing, relief, and growth. Maybe you've tried this before, and it didn't work. Maybe you're at the end of your rope. You want - or really, truly need - a therapist who listens carefully, understands the problem, and helps you enact change to relieve your suffering, as soon as possible.

I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive, trauma- and anxiety-related disorders by integrating Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with ACT.
The core component to successful therapy is a warm and trusting relationship. We will begin building this relationship from our very first call where hope and alliance begin to emerge. In therapy, we will integrate evidence-based treatments, clinical expertise, and your preferences to create a personal, culturally responsive, and comprehensive treatment plan. No matter what you are struggling with, be it anxiety, trauma, OCD, relationships, or big life transitions like becoming a parent, my goal is always to help empower you with autonomy, wholeheartedness, and meaningful connection to guide you toward your own values.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
