Licensed in both Texas and Florida. Please visit my website for a FREE consultation. As a female Muslim therapist, Muslim women usually contact me for difficult events, trauma, OCD, and other situations that impact self-esteem, and cause depression, anxiety, overwhelm, and anger issues. Some describe their experience as an emotional tug-of-war. Whatever your struggle is, I will provide a safe space free of judgment. As an Aalimah I can provide you with spiritual care should that be important to you. All you need to bring with you is courage, consistency, and persistence.

I believe in building a solid therapist-client rapport based on genuine acceptance while utilizing a compassionate interpersonal therapeutic approach. I have found these approaches to be instrumental in helping individuals as well as families to achieve meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. My passion is helping others to feel comfortable with who they are and not be defined by how others perceive them. Sometimes we struggle with not feeling we belong or that we don't fit in , sometimes this will cause us anxiety, depression, and low self esteem. Believe me you are awesome the way you are. You do belong...

Marcus specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and couples who are trying to get things on track. My priority is to relate and put my clients in a nurturing environment to grow. With couples I'm neutral reframing from shaming or judging. My background is in EMS working alongside law enforcement, nurses and doctors, military, and firefighters. I’m empathetic towards individuals frequently in high stress situations. It does not matter how good of therapist I think I am, if my clients aren't benefiting from my services. Morning and afternoon virtual appointments can usually be accommodated within 72 hours. You are not alone!

Early on I experienced an unwavering passion to help others. This deep-seated desire led me to pursue a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. My aspirations didn't stop there. Upon venturing into the social service field I gained a strong interest in working with deviant youth, giving me the motivation to complete a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, along with a Master's in Social Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice. After attaining four college degrees, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
