Together, we can explore and process everything from OCD, Intergenerational trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, and life transitions.
Welcome! I know seeking support takes a lot of courage, and I am so glad you are here. For me, therapy is about getting to know yourself, specifically how our thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and behaviors are all connected and can influence our relationships. My goal as a therapist is to assist you in working through life challenges by creating a safe, non-judgemental environment built on trust, empathy, and understanding. As a first-generation Guatemalan-American, I also understand the importance of being culturally aware, as well as the influence and impact it can set on interpersonal relationships and self-reflection.

The OCD Center Los Angeles is a private, outpatient clinic specializing in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and related anxiety-based conditions. Among the disorders we treat are: OCD, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Phobias, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (body image anxiety), Hypochondria (health anxiety), Trichotillomania (hair pulling), and Dermatillomania (skin picking). Unfortunately, traditional talk therapy has little impact on these conditions. Conversely, research has consistently found CBT to be the most effective treatment for these disorders. While treatment may last years with traditional therapy, most clients make dramatic improvement with CBT in just 4-6 months.

Do you feel overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts/images or unrelenting anxiety? Are you constantly seeking reassurance or performing rituals to feel better? You may be experiencing OCD or an Anxiety disorder. These disorders operate on what we call the Vicious Cycle: 1) encounter trigger or obsessive thought/image 2) experience distress 3) engage in compulsions or safety behaviors, which leads to 4) relief. The frustrating part about this cycle is that the relief is short-lived. Before you know it, the intrusive thoughts/images and compulsions are back, taking up more time and mental resources to cope.

I work with individuals and couples who suffer from anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, and more.
Earning a doctorate has given me tools for facilitating a deeper connection with my clients. This includes the non-verbal communication that passes between us, processing emotions through the body, and allowing my clients to explore their personal traumas with my support. The goal of working in this psychodynamic, explorative way is to create a deep level of healing and change for my clients, so they are able to move beyond the fear and resistance that may be holding them back. Please look at my website for more information about me: https://www.woodlandhillstherapy.net

I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship issues, and anger managment.
Are you in crisis? Do you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or sad? Is your teen or younger child having difficulties? Perhaps you have struggled with anxiety, fear, sadness, loneliness, and difficulties in relationship. My intent is to help you discover what you want to be different in your life and then find ways to make those changes. Often this means improving relationships -- learning about communication, finding better ways to deal with conflict, and becoming closer. Finding a safe and collaborative place to explore and address what is troubling you is the first step in healing.

I specialize in trauma/PTSD, women's issues, anxiety/OCD, depression, mood/personality disorders, eating disorders, relationship issues, and sexual disorders.
Do you desire more empowerment and mastery over your life? Do you intuitively sense you are destined for more, but are plagued by fears and doubts? Are you committed to your growth, but feel stuck in low-moods or trauma spirals? In our work together, we will take an honest inventory of everything that is no longer serving you, such as, old, destructive patterns, false limiting beliefs, and intrusive negative self-talk that unconsciously runs on a loop. My intention is to empower you to make lasting changes and to ultimately help you see yourself through a more honest and loving lens.

Finding and reaching out to the right psychologist can be one of the hardest parts of therapy. I have extensive experience treating anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), insomnia, and trauma. Anxiety and trauma affect all aspects of life, including work, school, sleep, personal relationships, physical health, and overall functioning. Many people feel isolated, alone, and helpless. I've seen therapy make a huge positive difference in people's lives - and it can be a truly wonderful, though challenging, experience. My practice primarily focuses on these issues among older adolescents, adults, and pregnant/postpartum mothers.

I specialize in treating adults and adolescents with bi-polar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, substance abuse, obsessive compulsive disorder,& eating disorders.
I believe that each person searches to find a therapist with whom they feel a connection. It is very important to me that I provide you with a positive emotional experience. One that is free from judgement, or underlying agendas. I strive to support my clients by being a dependable, focused and consistently positive force in their lives. A person grows through connection, consistency and genuine caring. I am not a clinician who believes that one has to feel pain in order to progress in therapy. Quite the contrary, it is through having a more healthy positive relationship, which causes meaningful change.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
