I specialize in rebuilding self esteem, improving anxiety levels, and providing relief from OCD.
Are you the person everyone depends on to have it together? The friend they call when they need support, the manager they trust to complete the important projects, the daughter they lean on the most. You’re kind, empathetic, and extremely capable, yet somehow these traits are used against you. You’re constantly thinking of you’re to-do list, but there’s never enough time. You pride yourself on giving 100% but it's impossible to do anymore. And you wish you had someone YOU could lean on. I support women as they learn to prioritize themselves, build their self-confidence, and start living lives that actually fill them with joy.

I have been practicing psychology in Washington State since 2009. As a clinical health psychologist I understand the role that the mind and body have on each other and have learned/fine tuned the mental and emotional strategies to not only improve emotional and mental well-being, but also have some positive effects on improving physical well-being.

I perceive life as a journey, consisting of searching meaning and coping: Meaning in different roles and aspects of life motivates us to move forward; coping is strategies to get there from here. However, at different life stages, we often got stuck because of different reasons. Thus, either we no longer can see the life meaning(s) and/or our coping strategies are no longer effective. We are likely stuck under these circumstances, which leads to sufferings. I believe that counseling is a catalyst to facilitate the needed changes & adjustments to get unstuck and to have a meaningful life again.

Some of the emotional dis-regulation we see in adolescence is the teen figuring out how to express themselves, in their own unique way, with their peers, their family, and in terms of social justice. Teens want to be understood, to be accepted, however they often do not want to work hard to help you understand them.

Something needs to change, you can feel it! The confusion, loss, and flashes from one emotion to another seem to turn every day upside down. Gratefully, stepping from where you and your loved ones are to where you long to be is so much more possible than you may now realize! Together we can create a better way forward.

I have training in evidence-based treatment for PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD and utilize EMDR , I-CBT and ERP in my practice.
Perhaps you think you're not good enough, you can't succeed or are struggling with intrusive thoughts. These thoughts may come up over and over again, impacting how you view yourself, how you function and bring on feelings of low self worth, sadness, or guilt. My goal is to help you embrace your authentic self, challenge your inner critic, and find a place of healing. I am glad you are taking the steps to find a provider who can help address your needs. The process can be overwhelming and defeating at times. In our work together, you will receive a non-judgmental, understanding, & empathetic approach.

I have counseled those with diagnoses such as Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Conduct Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, Attachment Disorders, ODD, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and have often worked with those on the Autism Spectrum.
**Currently not accepting new clients** I believe that therapy can greatly encourage all of us to make healthy choices and better navigate life's obstacles. I specialize in working with children and teens, college age individuals, young adults, and families. In one on one sessions, I strive to help individuals define their thoughts, identify important emotions, and express themselves in meaningful ways that bring about change. In working with families, my goals are to identify patterns of behavior, recognize familial strengths, and suggest strategies that may allow interactions within the family to be more healthy and adaptive.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
