Everyone has a life story filled with unique colors. Each color represents personal experiences, strengths, behaviors, relationships, and our inner world. Sometimes we find it hard to navigate through challenges and to face realities, which are unfamiliar and/or unexpected. Prior experiences may interrupt our current way of interacting, thinking, relating, and managing daily life. Stress contributes to increased anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, and relational issues. Trauma can debilitate individuals, couples, and families creating abrupt internal changes and fears. Grief over individual loss needs to be honored and acknowledged. Change occurs as a direct result of uncovering new insights.

As a therapist, I actually talk. Having authentic conversations with you is important to me. I validate and honor all your reactions to life and want to know about them. More technically, I practice eclectic asset-based (your strengths, safety and support) , attachment-informed (secure relationships), intersubjective (noticing how we relate), and Jungian (making the unconscious, conscious) psychotherapy.

Waitlist for new clients
My clients are vibrant, intelligent people who sometimes face challenges regulating their emotions, controlling their impulses, maintaining their relationships, and being compassionate toward themselves. I also see people who struggle with overthinking, mood fluctuations, and low self-esteem. Often, folks reach out after experiencing a loss or in the midst of a conflict or transition. I work frequently with arts and entertainment professionals, corporate leaders, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those whose loved ones have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Changes in relationships, starting a family, navigating a breakup, leaving for college, changing careers, or unexpected situations, to name a few- could elicit discomfort that makes us feel stuck, anxious, and/or depressed. Navigating life might feel difficult due to the uncertainties but we do not have to continue to feel this way. I firmly believe everyone has the tools within them to survive, thrive, process, and grow. Together, we will discover these tools, find tangible ways to achieve your goals, and gain clarity about the unknown while exploring your strengths and building resiliency toward healing and empowerment.

Anyone can give advice.  In my experience, people come to therapy looking for something they cannot get anywhere else. Usually they are struggling with anxiety, depression, or some other issue that they have not been able to solve on their own. How does therapy help? My philosophy is that we heal through relationship—not in isolation. So rather than providing a list of pre-scripted tools, I strive to develop genuine connections with my clients. But beyond simply looking for relief from troubling symptoms, my goal is to help you create the life you want to live.

At night you lie in bed wondering "Can this marriage really be saved?" You are so tired of feeling lonely, disconnected, and ignored. This is not AT ALL where you thought you'd ever end up. No more interesting conversations, no date nights, no fun, no sex. The thought "I can't wait to get home" turned into "Do I have to go home?" What happened? Will you ever reconnect with your spouse? Will you ever feel cherished and loved again? You've tried to fix it, but it didn't work. You got back defensiveness and criticism instead. You need HELP!. You can't do it alone. Should you stay or should you go?

"There are more things in heaven and earth ... than are dreamt of in your philosophy" Hamlet. As a depth psychotherapist, my intention is to help you navigate your personal depths; look beyond cultural expectations and all of the shoulds that have cluttered your life. Together we can work to unravel the defenses that have been unconsciously built to protect your heart and soul from feeling, and have kept you out of the present. By assiduously listening and freely playing, we will unearth who you really are and investigate what may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Let's face it- Whatever you are going through and whatever is bringing you to seek a therapist, it is probably not fun. Whether it is a break up, a divorce, a job loss, a death of a loved one, you have come to the right place. Seeking therapy and gaining self awareness can be life changing. Whether it is a current life crisis or the desire to change old ugly repetitive patterns, my style is nurturing, directive and fun. I work with you as a team getting to the core of the problem, and to help you move forward, hopefully with a fresh and new perspective.

Life can be such a challenge. We humans are so resilient, but also fragile, and life can hurl things at us we could have never imagined. We often feel we're doing our best; it often doesn't seem good enough. Support is crucial. It's immensely useful to have a therapist who ACTIVELY helps you face life on life's terms. My clients are growth-oriented people who take a proactive role toward change. We look at their situation, feelings, behaviors and opportunities for growth w/compassion, hope and motivation. My style is warm and direct. I believe in using humor whenever possible - therapy doesn't have to be a drag.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
