I believe each and every individual has the power and courage to make positive changes in their lives, even though there may be times when we struggle to recognize our strengths and our ability to overcome adversity. Although there are times when we feel stuck and without direction, I believe each and every person holds the map to a better future for themselves. Through processing, a trusting relationship, authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and the use of therapeutic modalities; I help my clients identify and work towards goals to make positive changes in their lives.

In our fast-paced world, it is easy to become anxious, depressed, angry, and/or overwhelmed. If it feels unmanageable at times, that makes sense. Our brains weren’t designed to be flooded with so much information globally and in our personal lives with minimal support. Add in additional stressors such as trauma, challenging family dynamics, or parenting, and it can feel like a pressure cooker ready to explode. However, you are not alone. Therapy is a wonderful tool to help release pressure and learn ways to manage challenging emotions so that you can be your best self.

My group practice specializes in the treatment of trauma spectrum disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders, trauma-related pain, and trauma-related somatic symptoms. Ongoing experiences of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, and bullying can lead to these symptoms. Sometimes people suffer these effects because they have experienced chronic invalidation. We treat couples, people in non-traditional partnerships, adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral problems. We also treat survivors of sexual violence and targets of workplace bullying.

Hello and welcome! I am so happy that you are here as I cannot imagine how overwhelming this process can be. Finding the right therapist is not a ‘one size fits all’ mindset. I believe that the therapeutic relationship takes time and space to develop. As a result, I meet each individual where they are at in order to foster that connection. My view on therapy continues to adapt in order to remain up to date with relevant challenges that individuals may face. Therapy should be unconditional and empathetic to ensure the individual feels heard and validated.

Congratulations! You have taken the first step into healing! Life is a constant learning experience to adapt to different cultures, situations, social groups and roles. Sometimes we may need somebody's insight, validation and support when walking in unknown territory. Whether the reason for seeking therapy is trauma, mental health issues or life changes, I believe we are all capable of resolving our own issues as long as there is awareness, understanding and willingness to face those challenges.

I have repeatedly been impressed and moved by the process and experience that is psychotherapy. With each new person that I meet, I endeavor to foster a relationship through which healing, self-awareness, and personal growth can take place. I aim to help people identify their own emotional truths and live a more fulfilling life. If you are unhappy with the direction your life is going, dissatisfied with the quality of your relationships, or experiencing distressing symptoms that make it difficult to get through your days, please call for an initial consultation.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
