Although my client base is quite varied, my specialties include "eating and food issues" (ie- obesity, binge eating disorder, self-esteem, etc.
Whether you are interested in healing hurts from long ago or simply dissatisfied with the current state of life, therapy can help you learn to embrace, with joy and gratitude, the messiness of the human experience. I help clients cultivate the tools they need to live a more confident life, take risks, and find the wisdom and sweetness in painful experiences. Being a therapist is a privilege, and I am very grateful to be able to provide a nonjudgemental space and connect with others in such a meaningful way.

Are you experiencing anxiety and overwhelm? Are you experiencing a life transition such as divorce, surviving the narcissist or navigating past trauma experiences for the first time? With over 20 years of experience as a biblically based trauma therapist, I will assist you in calming and managing anxious parts so that the calm, confident, courageous self-leader of your life can emerge as God intended for you. Together, we will focus on what is missing in your life as opposed to focusing on what is wrong with your life. Clarity and healing is possible when we give ourselves a safe space to process.

The primary focus of my work for the past 18 years has been with adults to help them move beyond their struggles and find healthier, freer and more fulfilling lives. You are more than just a list of symptoms. When we work together you will have my full attention. Most hurt and trauma happens in our relationships with others and building a trusting relationship with your therapist can help heal those wounds. We'll make connections between what's happening now and what happened in your past. We'll also work on feeling less shame and more safety in the now. You'll get to know yourself better and ideally feel less suffering.

Life can present us with challenges at any age. Each of these times can be an opportunity to grow and make changes. Therapy can provide a safe place for self exploration, understanding, and acceptance. At times, therapy can be anxiety provoking when we think about being vulnerable to someone we do not know. Allowing youself to be open to this process can lead to long-term benefits of coping, resiliency, and healing. I will join with you in the therapy journey in a safe and comfortable environment. My website is www.drmichelereich.com Also, I do not accept insurance but can provide a super bill for you to submit.

Life is a journey and on our journey we will experience love, joy, and happiness. We will also encounter pain, loss, suffering and hardship. As a licensed clinical social worker I offer a safe space where you can safely talk about your experiences and feelings. I want to help you trust your own intuition as you talk about your life and make decisions about the direction of it. I am accepting, caring, and supportive. I believe in cultural humility which allows the individual to teach me about their self identity to include their ethnicity, spirituality, sexual identity, and other aspects of their cultural.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist! I am very interactive, utilize humor, my own experience, and a lot of mindfulness in my approach. I am trained in yoga and other meditation techniques, and often integrate that background into the therapeutic process. I believe that you are the expert of yourself, and my role is to accompany you in recognizing and owning that. I will help you not only understand why you are suffering, but also learn tools from many different traditions for dealing with life's challenges. I specialize in helping motivated people navigate the challenging changes in life.

Obesity Therapists

Can obesity be a cause of depression and anxiety?

Yes. It can be stressful and debilitating to carry excess weight. Many people make inaccurate assumptions about people who are overweight. This stigma may lead individuals to feel badly about themselves, decreasing their self-esteem, or leading to feelings of worthlessness. An association between obesity and depression is well-established.

When should an individual seek treatment for obesity?

When obesity, or the feelings it causes, creates a disruption in your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Examples include avoiding social situations due to anxiety, an inability to participate in family life as a result of health problems, or poor performance at work due to low self-esteem or other concerns.

Are there specific medications for weight loss?

There are several prescription drugs that can help with weight loss, including semaglutide and phentermine. These drugs reduce appetite and must be prescribed by a physician. Professionals will suggest lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, before turning to drugs, which have side effects and typically are prescribed only for a short duration. Many people regain weight after taking weight loss drugs if they have not made significant lifestyle changes.

What is body positivity?

Body positivity is a cultural movement that promotes the acceptance of bodies of all sizes and types, rather than those that conform to societal ideals of beauty. It places self-worth, self-acceptance, and an appreciation for one’s body as goals to achieve a happier, healthier attitude about oneself and others, focusing on who a person is rather than what they look like.
