In my years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker, I have worked with many clients in multiple settings. What I have discovered is that as humans, we all shared similar emotional experiences. Emotions, such as sadness, anxiety, worries, trauma, and difficulty coping with everyday life stressors is arduous. Theses emotions can impair how we function, view the world, and how we perceive ourselves. While experiencing turmoil in our lives, many stigmatize mental illness and never seek help. Interestingly, I have discovered that when we are going through these challenging periods in our lives, professional help is essential.
