As an EMDR-trained therapist, I like to view our work as a focused workout for your mind and emotions. Just as physical exercise strengthens your body, therapy helps nurture your mental well-being by engaging directly with the roots of your emotional challenges.

When you’ve spent years in relationships where your needs don’t matter or where you’ve had to shrink yourself to survive, it can be hard to know where to start healing. I work with adults navigating relationship conflict, codependency, narcissistic abuse, and trauma. Many come to me feeling anxious, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or unsure how to feel safe in their own skin. Together, we explore what’s underneath those struggles, looking at early experiences, learned behaviors, and the role of boundaries, self-worth, and emotional regulation.

We have seasons in our lives that are filled with stress, anxiety, sadness, guilt, disappointment, grief, and even hopelessness. It can be overwhelming, getting stuck in a place where we cannot see a way forward, unable to change unwanted and repeated behaviors, where no one seems to understand or able to help, feeling frustrated, unmotivated, discouraged, alone, and even ashamed. Or you may be going through transitions, significant changes in work, family, relationships, and are understandably overwhelmed with uncertainty and feelings of loss. If this has been your experience, there is help to walk towards healing and renewal.

I integrate evidence-based modalities including DBT, CBT, IFS, and EMDR to help you regulate emotions, process past experiences, and build a more grounded, resilient inner world.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps adults break free from the emotional patterns that keep them feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unseen. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and life transitions—with a particular focus on parentification and shame. Many of my clients grew up taking on roles they were never meant to carry, becoming the caretaker, the “strong one,” or the emotional anchor for others. Together, we gently untangle these early adaptations so you can reconnect with your own needs, voice, and sense of self.

In the past 20 years of my career I have received certified training in multiple modes of therapy including cognitive behavioral therapy, couples counseling, sex therapy and group therapies. As a bilingual, bi-cultural therapist, I enjoy working with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, gender, and sexual orientations. My approach to therapy is founded on the belief that people can change aspects of their life that no longer accurately represent who they are or how they want to be perceived by others.

Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm happy you're here! I see many people that want to feel better, less stressed, and more confident. Some feel stuck in a cycle of perfectionism, self-doubt, and a loud inner critic. These emotions and thoughts are often connected to past events that ingrain beliefs such as; "I'm not worthy of love" or "something is wrong with me." They may find themsleves operating based on these negative beliefs in other areas of their life, like a smudged lense that they see the world through.

I incorporate ideas from attachment theory, Internal Family Systems ( IFS), mindfulness, the neurobiological impacts of trauma on the body, and the subsequent somatic work.
I work with young adults who are carrying the impact of past trauma, whether from childhood or relationships, and who may find themselves struggling with anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), people-pleasing tendencies, or family and relationship challenges. I also enjoy working with young adults as they navigate self-discovery, life transitions, and the exploration of LGBTQIA+ identity.

There is a way to get better things in your life, and I can help. I love this work, and have strong reasons to believe you will be glad you texted, if you do. This is high-end therapy, and I keep my practice small, intentionally. I've been lucky to be accepted into Mensa, nominated for an Emmy Award, and honored as the sole recipient of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's 2015 national Spark Award. I trained at Harvard, Brandeis, and NYU, and have supervised therapists at top programs. Many who have worked with me say it's been their best experience in any kind of therapy.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
