I have 25+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I use a creative, eclectic approach to help my clients gain a better understanding of their thoughts, emotions, and actions, help them through difficult periods, discover coping skills, and achieve a deeper satisfaction with their lives. I work with anxiety, anger, depression, bereavement, self-esteem and family issues. I am a licensed creative arts therapist, registered drama therapist, and certified counselor, and draw from CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic theories to inform my practice. In addition, I offer college counseling as an IEC.

I specialize in Substance Use Disorder, mood disorders, PTSD, and life crises, and treat individuals, over age 15, couples, and families, using client-centered talk therapy, CBT, and writing therapy. As Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) for 25 years,I worked and supervised inpatient and outpatient. and taught the CASAC curriculum at Marymount and CCNY. As LCSW, (Stony Brook, 1997 and Post-Graduate Center for Mental Health (PCMH), I have maintained a private practice for 27 years in Westhampton Beach, NY. My passion is to motivate and facilitate clients toward positive change.

Joan has worked in many areas of the behavioral health field giving her the unique ability to work and connect with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, backgrounds and life experiences. She has extensive experience working with those experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict mediation and resolution, grief/loss, couples, stress management, work/school-related pressures and the LGTBQ+ community. One of Joan’s specialties is working with adult children of alcoholics (ACOA) and individuals with substance use disorders and their families, recognizing the impact that addiction has on the entire family dynamic.

With over 12 years of experience working with adolescents, adults and couples, Mike focuses on a person’s strengths with compassion, empathy, and above all hearing the person as an individual. His area of focus includes those struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), relationship and family conflict, bereavement, personal growth, stress reduction and managing life transitions. Additionally, Mike has developed a special niche over the years in working with couples, young adults and middle aged adults navigating life transitions that take many forms and the LGBTQ+ community.

Paul is a seasoned therapist with 35 years of experience in the behavioral health field with a specialization in grief and loss. Having worked in private practice for over 25 years, he is practical and compassionate as he guides you to navigate solutions and insights. Paul has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, lack of direction, relational issues, illness and life transitions. Paul has dedicated his life to helping others improve their lives and considers it to be a privilege to be invited into his client’s inner lives and to accompany them on their journey through healing, change and self-empowerment.

Through my compassionate, highly supportive, solution-focused style, I help people with mental health issues and/or addictive behaviors achieve their goals. I take a holistic approach to healing and wellness and believe that each client requires a unique, person-centered treatment.
