I have concentrated on relationship issues, anxiety and depression which I feel are serious issues that can be dealt with through counseling.
I am a firm believer that any person or couple can benefit greatly from therapy. There are those that are resistent to confronting their own issues, but my demeanor and personality helps put every patient at ease with themselves during their time with me.

Life situations can often burden us leaving us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless which can contribute to increased anxiety and disturbance in sleeping patterns.
As a trauma specialist, I work with individuals with PTSD and grief related issues. My work in the substance abuse field included clients both inpatient and outpatient and their families. I have continued that work in private practice; and am currently licensed in the state of Texas as a LCDC (licensed chemical dependence counselor)

I have specific programs for the treatment of anxiety, depression, parenting, eating disorders, marital and couple conflict, child and adolescent behavior issues and parenting elderly parents.
The journey of life is one filled with joy, happiness, sadness, disappointments, loss and renewal. I feel my goal as a psychologist is to enable a child, adolescent, young adult, and adult find the strength to review life's troubling issues and form new perceptions which enables different outlooks on problems. I feel the only problems in life are situations that can not be resolved. Many times the resolutions are not what we thought life would offer us, but that is what we have. Books written by Dr. Pitta: "Solving Modern Family Dilemmas: An Assimilative Therapy Approach" and " Integrative Couples Therapy".

I work with a wide range of humans, most of whom come to me feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and stuck in relationships —with others or with themselves—that just aren’t working anymore.
Depending on your needs, we might explore: • CBT or DBT (to challenge thinking patterns and regulate emotions) • Mindfulness & EFT/Tapping (to move stress through your body) • Narrative work (to rewrite the story you’ve been telling yourself) • Boundary-setting + communication tools (because “No” is a complete sentence).

For over twenty years, I have strived to provide a safe, quiet space for children and adults to come and talk about the things with which they are struggling. Fred Rogers once said, "All our lives, we rework the things from our childhood, like feeling good about ourselves, managing our angry feelings, and being able to say good-bye to the people we love." This quote is particularly poignant as today's world becomes more and more challenging for both children and adults. My work aims to help others find the inner strength and resilience to navigate whatever challenges they have experienced or the ones that may lie ahead.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
