Besides Psychotherapy, I also offer Transpersonal Counseling for those interested in connecting with their intuition and the integration of mind, body and spirit.
The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. What I am is enough if I would only be it openly.' C.Rogers. This quote is at the core of my work as a psychotherapist. I believe that the path to healing begins with the experience of being truly seen and celebrated with all your identities and parts that make the whole of you. I make space to process the effects of trauma and any form of personal or social oppression getting in the way of embodying your true self. I am honored to support you in staying in your power and navigating the relationship to yourself, others and theworld in a more authentic way.

For nearly 100 years, growing alongside the work of Freud and Jung stands the work of Roberto Assagioli, M.D. and Psychosynthesis. A transpersonal and distinctly western psychology, Psychosynthesis puts forth a holistic model of human development that takes into account the spiritual dimension of human nature. Assagioli saw humans as a vast array of biological, social and spiritual impulses and felt that a true psychology had to embrace all of these aspects of the person. Scott Thompson, M.Div., M.S., LMHC, works as a psychotherapist in private practice.

Rize-Up Together was started by three women of The Bronx who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Rize-Up Together began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

You deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Calling a therapist can be intimidating; take a moment, maybe even a deep breath. Allow me the opportunity to create a safe and Zen space for you. There is no pivotal time like the present to take this step to elevate yourself out of the cycle of bad relationships, grudges, trauma, or being anxious/angry all the time.

As a therapist, I start with the basic assumption that we all have a fundamental impulse for growth and well-being. Sometimes we need resources, guidance, and someone with expertise to rediscover this. In my practice I am looking to engage clients to gain insight, discover motivation, and hone emotional skills. I am interested in providing the most conducive setting for people to cultivate their innate creativity, intelligence, and courage in navigating anxiety, depression, and the range life’s challenges.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
