My role as a therapist is not to provide answers, but to help guide you towards your own solutions. I believe I have a down to earth personality with a clinically-appropriate sense of humor. I have helped clients suffering from
grief
and
loss
, substance abuse and anxiety-related issues. The
loss
of someone we love is one of the hardest things we encounter in our lives, in my opinion. How people experience
grief
and
loss
is different for everyone. There is no right or wrong. Having a safe place to talk about this experience doesn't make the hurt go away, but it does help with moving forward.

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with
grief
processing, trauma, life transitions, anxiety, and depression.
Working together on a therapeutic journey will guide you to regain a sense of empowerment and identity. My experience as a counselor has led me to understand the importance of developing a nonjudgemental and secure relationship together. Providing this space allows for growth and progress on the journey to overall wellness. My approach involves exploring mental blocks or guards that hinder you from experiencing your innate strengths. Together we will work on emotional processing, finding strength based evidence, and developing positive coping skills based on your individual needs.

I work with people who are grieving the
loss
of their sense of self, and who are craving reconnection to their identity and desires.
With the overwhelming demands of life and work, we can often lose sense of who we are and feel as though we are going through the motions. Losing our sense of self, an important relationship, or even a loved one, can leave us feeling disconnected and alone. There is so much that demands our attention, it’s unclear where to start. If you are looking to heal and recover, hoping to reconnect with your inner joy, and searching for moments of peace, I might be able to help.

Other families in my practice seek treatment to gain support around familial conflicts that present at different developmental stages, or to assuage concerns associated with significant life changes due to divorce,

People come to me with issues concerning relationships, parenting, depression and anxiety,
loss
, and all of life's challenging situations and transitions.
We all experience times in our lives when what once worked for us no longer does. We may become overwhelmed, anxious, fearful, or angry and are no longer able to ignore those feelings. Instead they get in our way. Talking to someone, especially one who listens to you carefully and joins you in a collaborative and supportive process, is amazingly helpful. People with whom I work note that they begin to feel better and less alone almost immediately.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
