As someone who has dedicated their life to helping others, it is a true privilege to see more and more people seek pathways to feeling better, being better, and finding their true calling. I have found that there is no “one size fits all” model to self-improvement, and so I work with each client in order to support them uniquely- in ways that are most helpful to them. As a licensed psychologist and certified professional coach, I help people remove barriers and work towards the life that they want. I specialize in working with the college student population, anxiety, and
women's issues

Couples in all stages come to therapy. Whether love is new and they're trying to figure out life's challenges before taking the next step, or love is old and familiar but maybe it hasn't been working well lately (or for the last several years). It's best to come in and sit down with a third party not connected to your family or friends and be able to sort through everything in a supportive and safe environment. I even work with people who have decided not to be a couple, but are committed to co-parenting.

Life is not always easy, and often feels unfair. Whether you are suffering with depression, difficulty adjusting to change or struggling with an eating disorder, I believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Acceptance and change take courage, and nothing is harder than asking for help - but if you are searching for a therapist, then you have taken that first step towards healing and moving forward.

I believe that each person holds within themselves everything they need to heal and grow in the ways they would like. I see the therapist's role as being one in which provides an environment of safety and care where the client can explore themselves authentically. It is through this authentic exploration, that the therapist can help the client discover how patterns and ways of being are keeping the client stuck and resulting in suffering. By bringing into awareness these aspects, the client and therapist can then work collaboratively to release the pain and explore new ways of being.

Many, often struggle to address internal and relational issues; often finding themselves repeating unproductive patterns or at a loss of what to do. Underlying wounds, emotions, and thought processes can keep people stuck and prevent them from being able to engage in ways they would prefer. In session, clients create a solid foundation for themselves enabling them to function from a place that promotes personal growth and healthier relationships.

What does sex mean to you? Is it about exploring your body and your imagination, feeling pleasure, or connecting with your partner? Many people I work with feel stuck in their sex lives. Some have found that their sex drives are different or that they don’t want the same things as their partner. They may struggle with orgasms, erections, or pain. Others have had past negative experiences that make pleasure and intimacy difficult. As a certified sex counselor and nurse practitioner, I recognize that sexual expression is a reflection of both physical and mental health and I can provide holistic support for both.

One beautiful aspect of therapy is starting right where you are. Whether you have engaged in therapy in the past or are looking to try working with a counselor for the first time, I'm here to offer a safe space and company to explore what's happening for you now. We spend much of our lives being conditioned to view ourselves, life, success, worth, and more without priority for our own well being. I invite you to set down those weighty expectations in our sessions and delve into where you fit and feel most authentically you.

As a former Asian international student, I juggled multiple cultures, experienced self-judgment, loneliness, and worried about being off track without a plan. I used to believe I can "fix" my feelings and emotions with each accomplishment and recognition. It's never enough as the bar gets higher and higher for me. The need for validation from others actually created more anxiety and depression, making it addictive to hear praise, acceptance, and acknowledgment in all aspects of life. However, the journey to grow into a psychotherapist changed my belief system. I'm now a believer of self-validation.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
