Together, we can identify and incorporate complementary healing practices, such as mindfulness and meditation, creative arts, spirituality, and somatic movement practices to fully support your individual needs.
Hello and welcome! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is dedicated to helping my clients develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves so they can feel less overwhelmed, connect to their inner resilience, and find clarity and deeper meaning in their lives. My clients often seek therapy when they feel anxious, depressed, burnt-out, or uncertain about how to move forward in their current life circumstances. They may be asking themselves “What now?” in the face of grief and loss, the management of a chronic illness, navigating a major life transition, or any time life is not going “as planned.”

In therapy we will build upon your own inner strength, and authentic self to process and heal any pain or psychological injuries that might be getting in your way of living a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, that is, we will work together to help navigate and explore any problems or patterns in your life that may be contributing to the challenges that you face. I am not a therapist that will tell you what to do, but I will help you explore your own solutions and answers, which are within you waiting to be discovered.

The experience of human emotion is, by nature, incredibly complex. Navigating both the world around us and the world inside of us can feel overwhelming, painful, hopeless, and maybe even impossible. It is okay to feel these things and it is also okay to ask for help. Sometimes the hardest part of moving forward is finding the right person to be on that journey with you. I have a decade of experience working with individuals dealing with all kinds of personal struggles. My specialty areas include trauma, complex PTSD, anxiety, and relationship issues.

People seek therapy because of the challenges that come to them through times of transition. If you want to focus on healing without having to worry about a third party monitoring your personal struggles and demanding a diagnosis, I am happy to partner with you directly, creating terms that we negotiate together. Healing is likely the most important task that you'll tend to in your adult life. I will guide you in that process without pathologizing or labeling you. Becoming the fullest expression of yourself is a worthwhile and deeply personal task, not to be compromised by political systems.

I am drawn to working with families, namely parents and their children, as well as individuals. My knowledge exists primarily in navigating issues of trauma, grief, conflict, identity, and development of self. Supporting individuals who have experienced trauma calls for examinations of power, control, narrative, and accountability. These are all topics that I aim to lean into in my role, coupled with managing anxiety and maintaining agency in the face of fear.

At times in life, we are gifted the opportunity to recognize among ourselves that there is room for growth and healing. When you get to this place, it would be an honor to be a stepping stone on your journey. We often don't realize, in the fast paced world, that we have multiple layers that have led us to where we are right now. If things aren't going as you would like, hoped, or dreamed of, lets change your direction towards how you want it to be right now, and moving forward. This starts with you. YOU have the power to change your direction at any given time. If you are feeling stuck, I want to help. I look forward to connecting.

My focus is on wellness on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. I believe that compassion and safety are essential for healing to occur. I use mind-body-spirit healing modalities such as mindfulness practices, DBT, transpersonal counseling, EMDR, guided meditation, suggestive & regressive hypnotherapy. I trust in the intuition of the client regarding what is needed for healing. I believe that our bodies, minds and spirits are constantly striving toward health and healing, and that often times we simply need informed and effective assistance to get unstuck from troublesome loops in thought, emotion and action.

My primary focus of therapeutic services is to provide a conducive, safe, and confidential format that will ensure personal growth. Enabling the individual to regain functional capabilities which is the ultimate goal. In order to regain functionality and growth individuals in therapeutic settings may have to discuss pleasant/unpleasant aspects of their lives and may experience uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, fear, shame, guilt, hatred, anger, and frustration. However, through counseling, clients learn how to appreciate themselves, make better decisions and become more open about themselves and the world they live in.

Are you someone who is looking to do more than talk about what's challenging you? Delfina Piretti shares the essence of expressive arts therapy: "Each art form is a gateway to the deepest aspects of the self, reawakening a language of image and metaphor and expressing what often cannot be put into words." If you want to embark on a deepening journey into your body and soul, ready to explore areas such as movement, art, mindfulness, and spiritual practice, and in doing so, are ready to grow your awareness of yourself as a whole, I am here for you.

Imagine having everything you need to be the "best" you, but not knowing how to fully access it. This word "resilience" has become such a popular term and it can be amazing to help us cope with life, if we know how it truly works and how to access it. I specialize in youth and adult anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma and much more. Although most of these issues can cause problems in daily life. These problems are manageable and I am willing to help you create the narrative of your best self.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
