I work with individuals from pre-teen to adults regarding difficulties of

I’m very passionate about working with individuals that want to build social connectedness, self-awareness, and overall self-growth; and my clinical experiences are focused on helping with different psychological concerns such as interpersonal/relationship issues, stress,
anxiety
, depression, life transition, self-esteem, trauma, and attachment experiences.
This is the MOMENT; this is YOUR space to HEAL. I'm a Latinx therapist who strongly believes that we all need/want someone to empower, validate and actively listen to us in an empathic/genuine way. I recognize that opening up about our emotional concerns/pain, and being vulnerable to someone else is not an easy thing to commit to. My main goal is to provide a space, where you feel safe to share your life experiences, thoughts, and emotions. My work is driven by a non-judgmental, compassionate, and integrative approach that will be tailored and focused on your needs and goals as a unique individual for your healing journey.

The experience of human emotion is, by nature, incredibly complex. Navigating both the world around us and the world inside of us can feel overwhelming, painful, hopeless, and maybe even impossible. It is okay to feel these things and it is also okay to ask for help. Sometimes the hardest part of moving forward is finding the right person to be on that journey with you. I have a decade of experience working with individuals dealing with all kinds of personal struggles. My specialty areas include trauma, complex PTSD,
anxiety
, and relationship issues.

Your heart starts racing, hands get sweaty, vision gets blurry, and there’s an elephant sitting on your chest. Maybe this started out of nowhere. Maybe you know what started this
panic
and this sense of doom. Either way, I’m here to sit beside you while you figure all this out. It’s no picnic to be stuck between a rock and a hard place, making difficult choices that feel impossible. Becoming an adult can be very exciting and very scary at the same time. Even when you think you’ve reached the summit of adulthood, you realize that life still has wild surprises and hard losses. The “adulting” never stops!

I am passionate about working with people who have experienced trauma,
anxiety
, relationship/marital issues, grief, depression, communication issues and more.
Our journey through life can be filled with a plethora of emotions and experiences ranging from ultimate joy to the depths of despair. How we handle and move through these phases is heavily influenced by the way we saw our parents and family members deal with it. Understanding the impact of the dynamics of our family of origin can bring about clarity and understanding of how we operate and our worldview. Ultimately, this does not have to define us in a negative way. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I will work with you to identify these influences and patterns affecting your current functioning and work alongside you to process.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
