Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists in Sunnyside, NY
I work with women who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves to gently understand what’s been shaping their reactions, restore a sense of safety in their body, and build the self-trust needed to move toward the life they want.
You might look capable on the outside yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected within. You want to understand why you react the way you do, feel more grounded in your body, and trust your needs in relationships and decisions. You’re not trying to become someone else — you want more ease, clarity, and a way of living that feels genuinely like you.

Therapy is a soft place to land, and together we can lay groundwork to find meaning, gain resilience, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depression.
I specialize in working with teens and adults to create a sense of safety within themselves, and support through life changes, interpersonal stressors, and the broader landscape of collective turmoil. I enjoy working with clients to explore relationship dynamics and the patterns we unconsciously repeat. Much of my experience has been with individuals taking the meaningful step of trying therapy for the first time, as well as those with a history of complex trauma.

I like to give clients autonomy to feel their emotions. We work as a team to find solutions to create a more sustainable life. In therapy, I prefer to meet the person where they are at. There is room for emotional releases, as well as problem-solving through life transitions. I focus on strategies to calm our nervous systems and find coping strategies.

I specialize in providing integrated EMDR and IFS to LGBTQ+ youth and adults who are impacted by complex trauma and painful past experiences.
Once a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship is established, I help clients understand the neurobiological impact of trauma, often relieving deeply ingrained self-blame. This work supports insight into how the brain and nervous system respond to stress and trauma, reframing these reactions as natural physiological responses rather than personal flaws.

Using IFS and mindfulness, we go beyond coping — we get to the root.
You're thoughtful, resilient, and had to work hard for what you have in your life. It didn't come easy, but you bridged the gap to where you are. Yet underneath, there are old hurts and patterns that weigh you down. Maybe it's anxiety or depression you can't shake. Maybe it's a voice that says you're not good enough. Maybe it's relationship patterns that keep you stuck. You don't have to carry it alone. I specialize in working with adults from Latino, African, Caribbean, and Asian descent — who are ready to heal, not just cope. LGBTQ+ individuals are welcome. I'll help you heal those old hurts and find the peace underneath it all.

A presenting diagnosis is hardly the full story, it is merely the doorway by which we enter. Our work together will create a framework whereby you can initiate and maintain a relationship with your pain, and come to see it as an invitation for you to make contact with your higher, authentic self. Through investing in this process, you will transform the way you experience yourself and heal.

My approach is to work from a foundation in Neuroscience, and combine attachment theory, EMDR, & IFS-informed therapy in a warm, person-centered space.
My ideal client is self aware, high-functioning, and often hard on themselves. They may carry anxiety, deep shame, or loneliness beneath their competence, shaped by early attachment wounds, betrayal, terrifying trauma, or loss. They long for calm, connection, meaningful healing, and a kinder relationship with themselves. They want to understand why they react the way they do, heal their deep pain, understand their despair, let go of their anxiety, and live with more ease, clarity, joyful hope, and wholeness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
