I'm a clinical social worker specializing in respectful parenting, estrangement, mental load, and couples work that goes beneath the argument to the fear or hurt underneath the pattern.
Your family doesn't look the way it used to, and you're not sure whether to fix it or grieve it. Maybe you and your partner have had some version of the same argument for three years and you're both exhausted. Maybe you love your kids and you're still completely depleted by them. Maybe your adult child has pulled away and you don't understand why. Maybe life is fine on paper and you know it could feel better. Or maybe there's no crisis exactly, just a quiet sense that you've been taking care of everyone else for so long that you've completely lost track of yourself. Generic advice from the internet just can't bridge the gap.

In my work as a therapist, I have helped children, families, parents, and adults cope with and overcome a wide range of challenges such as PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, anger and stress management, parenting and relationship challenges, and life transitions.
My goal in therapy is to provide a space in which you feel accepted for who you ‘are’ and who you hope to become so that you can grow in your own self-acceptance and self-compassion, which is so vital to transformation. As part of this, I pay attention to the cultural, spiritual, and social justice factors that can be sources of both challenge and strength.

Clients who are the best fit for me are usually looking to build a life different from what was handed to them. I work joyfully with folks who don't fit in the boxes society creates. This may mean you are hoping to heal from relationships with those who raised you. Or perhaps you are neurodivergent and wanting to figure out how to show up better for yourself in a world that doesn't make a lot of space for how your brain and body work. I'm also here for those who are queer and/or trans who want a therapist that doesn't just accept you, but is with you.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
