Do you find yourself feeling “stuck”? Repeating the same mistakes over and over again, especially when it comes to your relationships with other people? Unfortunately, when childhood traumas go unresolved, we often find ourselves repeating the patterns of our childhood in our adult relationships with friends, co-workers and significant others. Unresolved trauma effects not just our thoughts and feelings about ourselves, but also how we respond to others.

I predominantly practice within IFS, ACT, EMDR, and DBT treatment modalities.
Navigating conflict and emotional response is a crucial part of the human experience. In some cases, these challenges can become overwhelming or put us in positions where we feel disconnected from our authentic selves. Working with a mental health professional can help us to navigate our individual needs. I believe in an integrative model, prioritizing autonomy and truth to oneself.

We will use strategies from DBT and CBT to help facilitate the change you are looking for in how you think, feel and respond to life.
You're a woman who holds yourself to high standards and you're used to managing complex responsibilities across work and life. You're used to performing at a high level- organized capable and able to follow through. When things feel inefficient, uncertain or out of control it can create a level of stress that's hard to ignore. Then add motherhood to the mix and for a lot of high achieving women, that next level, the one required in motherhood... well that can be what really tips the scales.

You keep everything together while breaking in places no one sees. You may be the one holding everyone else together while quietly wondering who is holding you. Many people I work with are deeply self-aware, yet still feel stuck in overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, relationship strain, betrayal pain, attachment wounds, anxiety, burnout, or trauma that never fully resolved. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to shift the deeper patterns shaping how you feel, relate, and move through your life. This is not surface-level therapy. It is work for what has remained unresolved.

You're successful (but exhausted). You've done all the "right" things (but don't feel totally satisfied. You've got friends (but feel lonely). I work with people who are known for having it all together, but aren't feeling that way anymore. They feel burned out, tired, and unsure about what they want anymore. On top of it all, the news is stressing them out. I've stood in that spot, and I want to help.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
