For over twenty years, I have strived to provide a safe, quiet space for children and adults to come and talk about the things with which they are struggling. Fred Rogers once said, "All our lives, we rework the things from our childhood, like feeling good about ourselves, managing our angry feelings, and being able to say good-bye to the people we love." This quote is particularly poignant as today's world becomes more and more challenging for both children and adults. My work aims to help others find the inner strength and resilience to navigate whatever challenges they have experienced or the ones that may lie ahead.

I help adults and parents with anxiety, stress, work burnout, and relationship challenges.
Do you spend so much time showing up for everyone else that you’ve lost track of what you actually need? Maybe you’re the one who "keeps the peace", never wants to rock the boat, and says yes when you mean no — now you’re exhausted. Whether you’re a mom who’s lost herself in caregiving, or simply someone who’s always been the strong one for everyone around you, you might look fine on the outside while running on empty inside.

In my practice I work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with many different issues, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, mood swings, addictions, relationship problems, low self-esteem, trauma, obsessions and compulsions, life transitions (including menopause), and stress management.
I believe the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship you build with your therapist. A good therapeutic relationship is one in which you not only gain insight into your thoughts and behaviors, but you also feel accepted and supported as you work toward making positive changes in your life. My main goal as a therapist is to build a therapeutic alliance with each person I work with that is based on acceptance, trust and support, from which it is possible to reach a level of awareness that opens the door to life altering changes and transformations.

I work particularly well with kids and teens (ages 5–17), college students, and adults, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, supporting them through anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the kind of stressful situations that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or unsure of where you belong.
Healing happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, messy, and to move at your own pace, even when that feels like navigating a storm you can't see through. Our work together is your umbrella in the storm, drawing from CBT, DBT, and ACT. Together we'll build real insight, practical tools, and ways forward that feel sustainable and true to who you are.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
