An EFT therapist ( Emotionally Focused Therapist for Couples) looks at problems through an attachment perspective to notice what gets in the way of our staying emotionally connected to others.
If you are reading this, I assume that you are ready to make important changes in your life. You may wish to improve your self-esteem and confidence, and understand negative patterns that get in the way of how you relate to family, friends, and partners. My style is to actively engage you in a non-judgmental way, always sensitive to creating an environment of trust in our sessions. Your life does not have to be a constant struggle. Therapy helps you look at yourself through a different lens.

"They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds." I was born in Ukraine and am a first generation immigrant. By the age of 12, I had lived on several continents before my final journey to the United States many years ago. My background is seasoned with experience in divorce, relationships, marital difficulties and extensive experience with the LGBTQ+ community. I work with many types of couples, individuals and relationship dynamics. I understand how complicated relationships can be, and how important it is to understand and really be actively present, heard and understood. We all need to matter, be seen and validated.

Is your child struggling, anxious or depressed? Today's adolescents, as well as middle and elementary school age children are under a great deal of stress, whether it is social, academic, familial, or a combination of all these factors. In this complex world, children often have difficulty navigating their environment. This may cause children to act out in inappropriate ways. For the past 30 years, I have helped numerous children to reach their full potential. Approximately 40% of my practice are children and adolescents; I also treat adults of all ages, including geriatric patients.

What do you think of therapy? Does it intimidate you? In your thoughts, do you think the therapist is an out of touch, stodgy, judgmental person prying into sensitive topics or boring you with monotone lectures? Could therapy actually be fun? Or something you look forward to? What if therapy didn’t have to be scary or always serious but a time you set aside for yourself which you actually enjoy?

Therapy should not only focus on relieving your symptoms and distress but is also about building greater capacities for dealing with life's inevitable stresses and anxieties. I believe it is important to actively collaborate with you to find out what it is you want from therapy and to periodically evaluate the progress toward these goals. I look to tailor each person's therapy to their specific presenting problems and goals so that they will be able to feel better and feel more capable in facing life's challenges.

The key to living a happy, healthy and whole life is having the ability to identify, process and replace the negative thoughts and behaviors that hinder one from achieving their ideal self. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help each patient become more self aware so that their emotional/mental self and physical self are aligned. Together we will discuss a treatment plan that will help to address the presenting issues at hand and assist one in attaining their personal therapeutic goals. I pride myself on the ability to create a comfortable atmosphere which allows for open, honest communication.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
