Sessions will be tailored to your own individual needs and wants, in which we may incorporate CBT, DBT, solution focused work and mindfulness techniques.
I have always been passionate about the field of psychology, and more specifically understanding why and how people come to be the way that they are. In my opinion, no problem is too big or too small to warrant counseling. We have all been affected by our life circumstances and experiences, regardless of how different they may be to others. I aim to ensure that my clients feel safe and supported in sessions together, rather than embarrassed or shameful. I take a very empathetic approach, however, am also quite straightforward which I believe fosters a trusting and honest relationship with one another.

Together, we'll explore the patterns and experiences that no longer serve you and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others. My background as a musician, teaching artist, and arts administrator shapes the way I connect with others, grounding my work in warmth, creativity, and collaboration. Because healing can happen in many ways, I also offer Walk and Talk therapy for clients who prefer to reflect and process while moving outdoors.

Anxiety. I hate that guy! Alright, I know it's not a real person. Still, if you have had anxiety, you know what I mean. I first experienced anxiety when I was 6. It was my nearly constant companion for many years. I know it can feel that it takes away from who you are, who you want to become. Until it doesn't. Until you find a way to beat it back, put it in the background. Silence it. I can teach you how to do that.

Our practice also offers specialized services, including DBT skills groups, social skills groups, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), EMDR, and Trauma-Informed Yoga to support healing and growth.
My biggest takeaway throughout my clinical career is understanding the perplexity of mental health and how all too often, people can be misunderstood when we don’t take the time to listen. I am a strong believer in meeting the client where they are and not forcing the therapeutic process. My engagement skills revolve around maintaining flexibility and no judgement with whomever is in the room with me. It is vital to understand that our challenges don’t define us and we must value every person as an individual, not by their diagnosis, disability or trauma history.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
