I work best with people who are seeking to find out what is working and what’s not working in their lives and how to become “unstuck.” My ideal clients are motivated by a desire for change, even if they’re unsure where to start. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, or frustrated by life transitions, stress, or anxiety. They want clarity, practical tools, and a supportive space to explore new possibilities. They are open to taking an active role in the process, and they value collaboration and actionable strategies that lead to real progress.

I've been fortunate to work with a wide range of people, including those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, sexual issues, sexual and gender identity exploration, health concerns, artistic blockages, addiction, parenting, and fertility issues.
I have particular expertise in working with individuals who are part of transgender, non-binary, queer, lesbian, gay, and bisexual communities or exploring their relationship to those identities. I am also poly and kink-affirming. I find that understanding the intersections of our marginalized and privileged identities helps us to process and release shame.

Within each one of us is an inner child that holds the many hurts of our life. To survive this world, we hide the child away, building strong brick walls, preventing the child from emerging. Sometimes we use our “busyness” to ignore the cries of the child behind the barricades. Or we turn to anger, addiction and numbness to drown out the deafening cries. In our moments of brokenness, we stop and wonder, “Is this how I will have to live the rest of my life?” Trauma touches us all in different ways. The role of a therapist is to guide you through the pain and hurt so you can live a life of intention, meaning and inner peace.

My focus is on assessing the entire person holistically. I want to acknowledge you for taking this brave and difficult step. Getting to this place has not been easy, but I assure you, you will get through this. Most importantly, you should not feel ashamed for seeking help. We are all imperfect, flawed in our own way. Only we control our journey to realizing our own best self. We need to listen and hear our higher self, clearing the noise and emotional interference that keeps us from achieving mental and spiritual peace. As a therapist, my purpose is to mirror, mentor and persist in helping you transform your symptoms to a memory.

Safety in the therapeutic relationship is most important.
We all have enormous potential for growth and self-actualization. As we move through life, many of us will encounter experiences which impair our sense of safety, our confidence, and our innate capacity to explore, connect to others, and to fully become our best, whole selves. My goal is to be present to help you find insight into problematic patterns of behavior, enhance the ability to take perspective, and take necessary steps toward your desired goals. I strive to create a safe holding space for my clients through respect, compassion, and understanding, where you can openly process and begin the journey to self-actualizing.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
