Depression , anxiety, isolation, co-dependency, suicidal ideas, are almost always manifestations of unresolved Trauma. Sadly, trauma is all too prevalent in our world, and people often believe they have little power to overcome it. Medication to reduce symptom intensity is important in a crisis. Its value in these moments is unparalleled. But while it can suppress your symptoms, it does not heal you in the long term. Have faith that you are RESILIENT! You have amazing strength and an inner healing intelligence. My role will be to guide you through the healing process so you can begin to live with self-love and hope.

I work closely with adolescent, college-aged, and adult clients struggling with anxiety, depression , and life transitions to help resolve the distress they are experiencing. I collaborate with my clients to develop solution-focused approaches to help them feel less stuck, more present, and more in control of their daily experiences. I am trained in evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which targets how our thoughts impact our emotions and behaviors, and I integrate insight-oriented therapies that help clients hit refresh and feel re-engaged while navigating school, work, relationships, and other important moments.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly twenty years of experience treating children, adolescents, young adults and adults. My clients often come to therapy looking for relief from anxiety, depression , trauma, as well as pervasive negative thinking patterns and behaviors. These issues adversely impact the quality of day to day functioning and interpersonal relationships. In therapy, we work together to understand the root cause of the identified issues. This greater understanding helps us identify which coping mechanisms may be used to improve daily functioning.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
