My most recent work has been with separated families (children 0-18, with special training with expecting parents and those with kids 0-6) working to repair relationships after
trauma
and loss.
Here you are, searching amongst professional strangers to choose someone to dig into your “stuff” with. What a weird world. Welcome. I’m Michelle. ---- My professional journey has included being with adults/kids/families struggling with life shaking
trauma
’s as well as those working through the struggles with anxiety/depression/daily life striving for general wellness. My own role models had ways of “being” that allowed people around them to slow down and deepen. Take a break from the chaos. Wherever you are, I’m here and look forward to working together in whichever way you need at this point in time.

Reaching out for support can be hard, but you are not alone. Everyone has experienced their own life journey which can involve grief/loss, relational ruptures, parenting struggles or
trauma
. Sometimes this journey can leave adults in a place where it is hard to find the motivation to complete everyday tasks, manage life stress or have patience with our loved ones. This can be true for children too, which may cause them to struggle in school, have emotional outbursts or display signs of anxiety. No matter what is bringing you, your child, or family to this moment in time, I am honored to be a part of your journey.

I have a very

informed approach.
Maybe you are wanting some support in making a decision, or having trouble with “keeping your cool”? Are you feeling anxious and not real decisive at times? Do you notice patterns in your life with relationships? I can help. I believe that labels are social constructs that bind us and hold us stagnate into believing a narrow viewpoint about ourselves. Each of us are a spectrum of varying attributes and a label can not come close to capturing our essence.

Feeling stuck and can't figure out why? Maybe you have noticed patterns that are getting in the way. You might react too quickly, getting angry and loud, and then feeling guilt or shame afterwards. Perhaps, you find yourself going blank in different situations where you don't know what to say and feel like shutting down. Maybe you might want connection with people, but it might be hard to trust and put yourself out there. Even knowing these patterns doesn't make it easy to figure out what to do. Our body is wired to keep us safe and sometimes these patterns develop after
trauma
as ways of trying to help us.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
