I believe the therapeutic process is about relationship and connection. I love supporting people through the difficulties of life. In doing so, I love to laugh, joke, connect, be real, and down to earth. I have an audacious and thought provoking approach to treatment. My approach allows me to directly connect with clients in a manner that is comfortable and authentic. I utilize an eclectic approach and pull from training in different evidence based and person centered therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT for Anxiety,
Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
Hello and welcome! If you’ve landed here, you’ve taken the first step in seeking support for yourself or a loved one, and that effort should be celebrated. The idea of sharing details about personal lives with a stranger can be scary. Many people make the choice to connect with a trained therapist and end up finding value in having an unbiased person outside of their friend/family group listen, validate, and share helpful strategies. I have been practicing as a licensed therapist since 2016 and I find great meaning in being able to partner with people as they move closer towards healing and growth.

I rely on my training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,
Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, and Mindfulness Based practices to treat concerns about anxiety and mood problems, stress, parent/child conflict and parenting problems, school issues, adjustment challenges, and grief, loss, and trauma, amongst others.
Everyone has challenges in life and sometimes having the support of a therapist can provide extra support, knowledge, and tools that can help ease the struggle. I think every person and every family is their own expert and I would like to partner with you to share what I've learned about approaching problems in ways that can feel more tolerable. Collaborating (with permission) with medical, school, community, family, and other supports ideally provides information and wisdom to support a child and family through change or challenge.

As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), I strive to ensure that clients are provided the space to effectively express themselves in a way that makes sense to them. I have experience working with children, teens, families, and couples who can be experiencing challenges with life transitions, anxiety, depression, stress, or simply would like a neutral person to talk to.

Growing up can be challenging in itself. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other additional challenges can make it difficult to navigate transitions, social relationships, and everyday life. You may be seeking an external support to work through everyday struggles with, or assistance with a mental health concern. Or, you are looking for a temporary support to help with processing a traumatic event or navigating a transition. Maybe your behavior is inhibiting school success. Everyone deserves support, especially when they recognize they need it.

I draw skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and
Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy in a strength based, person-centered, humanistic manner.
Is your teen anxious, seem “off” or struggling with getting to school? Is your home environment stressful? Navigating life as a teen or young adult can be trying for most, particularly when you add in family stressors, anxiety, school challenges and peer relationships. Oftentimes, teens feel lost or misunderstood and need a safe space to work through those feelings and develop strategies for managing these challenges in a healthy way. I engage my clients in exploring these issues and work with them to better understand how to best respond utilizing skills to manage their emotions, based on their own skill-set and beliefs.

It is my aim to help clients reclaim fragmented parts of self that make us "whole," reprocess/desensitize traumatic memories and maximize resources by employing EMDR,
DBT
and Internal Family Systems.
I provide a holistic approach to youth, families and providers by training the brain to grow more resilient to stress and trauma by using therapies informed by the autonomic nervous system. I can assist you in identifying disruptive patterns while together, building a set of more adaptive attitudes about yourself and others as well as integrating somatic and cognitive skills to maintain progress. I am passionate about getting clients closer to understand, trust and love themselves so they can move beyond limiting thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I focus on highly sensitive people and reclaiming the self from relational trauma.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
