I believe each individual has what it takes to overcome obstacles by accessing their inner wisdom and unique strengths. My approach to counseling is integrative, meaning I draw from several different types of therapy to fit what is best for the client's needs. I hold sessions from a non-hierarchical and non-judgmental position while simultaneously acknowledging the differences and limitations of working with diverse populations.

I work with a variety of people whose active, creative lives have been interrupted by depression, mania, anxiety, mourning, and trauma. Psychotherapy with me is a process of guided expression. Thoughts and feelings, dreams and fantasies, desires and fears are given voice -- loud, clear, and without judgment. The experience of formulating authentic verbal and emotional expressions can be transformative in and of itself. Also, as patterns in your way of being become clear, you can begin to consider alternatives, find courage to change, and experience what is commonly known as freedom.

Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

Therapy can provide new perspectives during a time when the world seems disconnected and life feels overwhelming. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide evidence-based psychotherapies for individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and life transitions. Living a life consistent with our values is a common, and often elusive, goal. To support my clients in this endeavor, I integrate evidence-based psychotherapies with relational and process-oriented techniques.

My clients tend to be creative folk struggling to move forward in life. They often arrive to therapy feeling unfulfilled, stagnant, and unsure of how or where to get the help they need. Anxiety, depression, guilt, and overstimulation have impacted their ability to see the path forward and they feel lost and need help to reconnecting to themselves. I help my clients move through these moments in life in a way that is empathetic, nonjudgemental, and gentle. We all get stuck. Sometimes we just need a little help getting unstuck.

The parts of ourselves that we struggle with are sometimes our greatest assets. Therapy can be a place to better realize our strengths and identify where long-term patterns of narratives and behaviors are no longer serving us. I am passionate about working with LGBTQ and POC on topics such as: gender/sexual identity, anxiety, depression, OCD , acculturation, racial identity, social skills, and relationships. My therapeutic approach incorporates both systemic and relational pieces. We do not exist in a vacuum. All of our experiences shape the person we are today.

I have specialized training in treating OCD and anxiety more generally.
As humans, we have seasons in our lives when we are lost or in pain. If you are overwhelmed with anxiety, stuck in unhelpful patterns or finding it hard to get through the day to day - why go it alone? I offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy. As a psychologist, I see my clients as partners in the process of healing. I respect the wisdom that you bring into the room, your understanding of yourself and your history - as well as the pieces of yourself that you find difficult to understand. I aim to build on this insight and to utilize my expertise to help you live your best life.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
