My experience has been working with those suffering from chronic illness, depression, anxiety, trauma, and navigating gender and sexuality expression and identity.
I am currently accepting new clients. I offer a warm, empathetic, judgment-free, and safe space for adults. This space will invite you to explore all parts of yourself and create more meaning in your lives. I believe that individual challenges are unique to your experiences, circumstances, cultural and spiritual beliefs, and personal identity. I find that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. With this uniquely beautiful relationship, I believe the path to healing is more accessible.

I'm a clinical/health psychologist, inter-faith minister and hypnotherapist with over 30 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, couples, geriatrics, family, special needs, cultural issues, food, weight issues, viruses, autoimmune diseases & nutritional needs. Anxiety, depression, grief, chronic illness, cultural stress, career counseling, parenting, men’s issues are just a few of the specialties I work with. Most of us go through life with uncontrolled thoughts allowing our minds to dictate perceptions and meaning to situations we encounter, often in unproductive and/or distressful ways.

I have worked with clients struggling with chronic illness, caregiving and grief in individual and group sessions.
Hi, I'm Jenny. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed or deeply concerned about life situations, change, or a loss. Maybe you don’t even know how you feel but know it is time to reach out for help. Maybe you are missing something in the past or feeling not up to the future. You are not alone in this. These moments are some of the most important in a life, and it is easier to face them with support. That is where therapy can start. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Rogers.

Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

I find I do my best work with teens and millennial adults who struggle with childhood and complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem and self-worth issues, relational trauma and depression. Past traumatic experiences shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we regulate our emotions. I utilize the therapy space as a way to help you build empathy and understanding for yourself, develop insight into long-term relational patterns that may be holding you back, and build skills for emotional regulation.

It is important to have physical and mental well-being.Therapy is a process of self discovery and healing. I believe in the process and help people understand that we do it together. It takes time to work on one's issues but I believe in the process of growth and positive change. I help people recognize that you have to love oneself , feel you deserve to be happier and do the work to make that happen.I believe that people are survivors and can overcome obstacles. I look up insurance benefits for patients and do all billing to lessen patient worry over this. I provide telehealth therapy for those who work from home or are disabled

Chronic Illness Therapists

How does therapy for chronic illness work?

Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?

Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?

No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?

There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
