I began my journey providing therapy in 2013. Having 8 years of experience working with adults and adolescents. My primary focus revolves around trauma. I believe we are all capable of living a life worth living. For some this may mean working through past trauma, changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, understanding influence over environment, having a positive support system, and building mastery in areas. Life needs balance. In order to be in balance we must have awareness, insight, action, and rejuvenation. I take a strength based approach to promote a healthy and balanced mind, body and soul.

I have been an individual and family/couples therapist for more than 20 years - It is reassuring to see changes that have developed over time. There are so many options for people including brief consultations as well as video sessions. I think people today are more comfortable creating good smart relationships with therapists and are seeking out a good fit. The internet helps with this. For me, a good fit would be someone who is ready for work, has an open mind, and is curious about themselves and interested in making change. I am a clinician who is direct and fairly straIght forward as well as supportive and kind.

I have experience working with children, teens, and young adults on anxiety, depression, ADHD , and life stressors/transitions.
Are you a parent/caregiver looking for someone to help your child, or are you a young adult looking for someone to talk to? Youths have unique challenges to face: school stressors, difficulty socializing with peers, struggles in identifying complex feelings, having a hard time focusing, and the list goes on. You may have noticed that your (or your child’s) struggles have worsened throughout COVID-19 for a variety of reasons, which is certainly not uncommon. If you feel anxious, sad, lonely, scattered, or overwhelmed, you are in the right place. You don’t have to go it alone. Whether you’re 5 or 25, my goal is to help you feel heard.

I primarily work with an adult population treating a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, panic disorders, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD , grief, relationship issues, women's issues and interpersonal conflict.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I take an integrative approach to the mind-body-spirit through advanced energetic modalities such as EMDR, EFT, IFS and guided imagery. Prior to becoming a social worker, I spent several years learning about alternative healing techniques based on Eastern philosophies and medicine. My curiosity around human development emerged around the time my children were born and provided insight into childhood development and psychology.

While I believe people are multidimensional and more than a particular label, I have developed expertise in anxiety, depression, addiction/recovery, ADHD /LD, relationships (including polyamory), sexuality, identity, stigma, parenting concerns, conflicts between business partners, trauma and resilience, divorce/blended families, and creativity/work goals.
My goal is to foster a sense of safety for clients to speak openly about who they are and how they feel. I am interested in the way our lives and relationships are touched by our past experiences, our fears, and our desires. I provide individual psychotherapy, couple’s, and solution focused treatment. My style is direct, warm, and (dare I say) funny. I draw from clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and family systems theory.

Feeling preoccupied by anxiety? So stressed that the thought of taking action spikes panic? Tired of painful relationship patterns? Call me! From our first session you'll begin to practice SE embodiment skills proven to help restore your nervous system to a felt sense of safety and flow. If you had a stressful childhood or have PTSD from life events, or are a blocked creative, please know that depression and anxiety are not mental states. They are symptoms; ways our bodies adapt to toxic stress. Our ability to make wise choices or relate in healthy ways gets cut off. "Talk" therapy can make trauma symptoms dig in deeper.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
