My aim is to create and foster a warm and connected working relationship with each client, in order to build trust and engender hope for the journey ahead. Together we’ll explore what has brought you to this juncture, at this point in time. What has made you take action now? How would you like your life to look? I believe in strengthening our innate abilities and developing new skills to navigate through emotional pain. With creativity and compassion, we can resolve problems, heal emotional wounds, and discover new strengths to face obstacles. I work with children, adolescents, and adults including parents, couples, and families.

Have you tried talk therapy and know you haven't quite found what you need? I offer deep IFS, Somatic, and EMDR work, from the holistic viewpoint that our entire person - mental, physical, past, and present - are deeply connected. Individuals I work with are looking to understand overwhelming feelings, and might be experiencing anxiety, depression, disordered eating, chronic pain, and feeling “stuck”. Couples I work with are often looking for support getting back on the same page or navigating a consensual non-monogamous (open) relationship. I also support couples where one partner attends individual therapy and the other does not.

Disappointment, failure, loss, frustration, anger and sadness are unavoidable aspects of human existence. The past cannot be rewritten. But the way in which we choose to come to terms with the past - as either members of a familial unit, a couple, or an individual - will go a long way towards determining our happiness in the present. I bring a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental approach to my work that arises out of my deeply held conviction that the most important determinant of therapeutic success will be the therapeutic alliance between patient and therapist.

Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). What would abundant life look like for you? And are there any roadblocks you've encountered? For some it's loss, fear, sadness, regret, shame, disappointment or a toxic relationship. I don't presume to have all of the answers, but I am here to partner with you on your journey. Whether it's discovering what your goals are, or just the cherry on the top. Counseling can be an investment in yourself and your future. Chris is a Licensed therapist in New York and Connecticut.

Anxiety, depression, grief or just feeling stuck are often what leads someone to begin therapy. Your emotional discomfort may be impacting your relationships at home, work or school. You may have tried to improve the situation and are frustrated at not being able to achieve the changes you desire, but change is possible. Having a clear understanding of your issues, and your needs is the first step toward reaching your goals.

Come as you are. Move at your pace. Find your way forward. If you feel ready for something deeper than surface-level fixes. If you're tired of just managing symptoms and want real transformation that honors your whole self. If you've tried quick solutions, but you're looking for healing that addresses root causes, not symptoms. If you want to understand deeper patterns in your life and relationships, and you're motivated to do meaningful work that leads to lasting change. If you deserve support that sees you as a complete person, not just problems to solve. We will work well if these statements are true for your healing journey.

With a specific focus on relationships, I draw from training in Relational Life, Emotionally Focused, and Imago therapies, the Gottman Method, and the work of Harville Hendrix, among others.
It's hard to say when things 'shifted', but you realize that you barely recognize the person you've been living with. It's both heart wrenching and horrifying to imagine that you and your partner have grown so far apart. You're questioning your relationship - maybe ALL of your relationships. You're a stranger to your partner, and they, to you. What brought us together to begin with? And why can't we work through even the simplest things? At some point maybe you convinced yourself that 'this will pass'. Maybe it started when you got that new job, when your kids were born, when... But now, the distance between you can't be ignored.

Accepting new clients for June 2026. I understand how vulnerable it can be to begin therapy. Change can feel uncomfortable, especially when you’ve built a life that looks successful on the outside but feels exhausting or unsteady everywhere else. Many of my clients are driven, thoughtful individuals who are used to a "grin and bear it" mentality, but are now seeking emotional clarity, courage, and relief.

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
