Psychologist, PsyD
Pomona, NY 10970
My therapy approach is integrative and client-centered, combining psychodynamic therapy and EMDR for individuals, EFT for couples, and CBT and other behavioral interventions.
I can be most helpful to clients seeking a warm, supportive space where they feel safe to share openly. Clients I work with are often facing challenges like anxiety, relationship struggles, or a sense of being stuck, and they’re also interested in exploring the deeper emotional roots of their experiences, including trauma. I work best with individuals who want both practical solutions and a deeper understanding of how past experiences shape their present. Together, we collaborate as they take an active role in identifying their needs and pursuing meaningful, lasting change.

I'm also certified in EMDR Therapy, an evidenced based treatment for trauma and anxiety.
Do you constantly think "something bad is going to happen" or struggle with constant thoughts of "what if"? Do you feel like you're always on edge and you can't relax, no matter what? Everyone experiences a healthy amount of worry from time to time, but constant anxiety can be debilitating. If left untreated, anxiety can impact your physical health, threaten your job, and make it difficult to have deep, meaningful relationships. This is especially true for parents, who's anxiety makes it difficult to calmly and effectively be there for their children.

I draw from relational therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR to support both insight and practical change.
Do your emotions sometimes feel overwhelming? Maybe you’re the one who keeps the peace, puts others first, and struggles to say no. You might notice the same patterns repeating in your relationships, even when you’re trying to do things differently. Often these experiences are actually connected to earlier events that shaped how you learned to navigate emotions and connection. Together, we’ll explore where these patterns developed, build insight into your thoughts and reactions, and develop practical tools to navigate big emotions and relate to yourself and others in healthier ways.

My work is grounded primarily in DBT and informed by CBT and EMDR, with a neurodiversity-affirming lens throughout.
I work with adults and adolescents who experience emotional intensity, relationship reactivity, overwhelm, and patterns that have been difficult to change. Many of my clients have spent years feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or told they are “too much,” “too sensitive,” or not trying hard enough. I often work with neurodivergent clients, trauma survivors, and people navigating complex presentations that don’t fit neatly into one diagnosis. I approach this work with nuance, curiosity, and the understanding that symptoms rarely exist in isolation.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
