Hi! I’m Sabrina, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NYS dedicated to helping you navigate life’s toughest challenges. Many people find themselves putting the needs of others first while their own take a back seat. In therapy, I help clients reconnect with themselves, explore how life circumstances shape thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships, and build tools for meaningful change. Through setting boundaries, practicing self-care, and creating healthier patterns, I support clients in moving from simply managing day to day to living with greater balance, purpose, and fulfillment.

Do you find yourself functioning well on the outside but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected internally? As a somatic, trauma-informed psychotherapist and EMDR-certified clinician, I help clients move beyond insight alone by gently working with the body and nervous system. Through EMDR and somatic awareness, we process unresolved experiences so you can move out of survival mode and toward greater regulation, connection, and a deeper sense of ease in your life. I'm also an EMDR Consultant-in-training and have openings for consultation - whether you've just received your basic training or are a seasoned user of the protocol.

LLS Therapies supports individuals, couples, and students in high-expectation environments who carry a great deal internally. Many appear composed and capable on the outside while privately navigating stress, anxiety, relationship strain, or a sense of disconnection. Many are the “responsible ones” who carry emotional pressure silently. If vulnerability feels foreign, you're not alone. We offer a calm, structured space to explore what's beneath the surface at a pace that honors your autonomy. We serve CT and NY via telehealth.

Feelings are messengers, guiding us toward a fuller, more vibrant life. They show us what matters, bring depth to our experiences, and spark growth. Yet unresolved trauma and a dysregulated nervous system can create barriers, making it difficult to process emotions, trust inner wisdom, or connect authentically.

Although the energy of transition and healing is in the air for so many of us, undergoing the initial steps towards seeking support can be difficult. Thank you for leaning into this process and exploring some of the ways we may be able to work and move in partnership towards a space of spiritual, emotional, and mental wellness. During our initial sessions, we will focus on weaving together, the elements of your lived experience that inform your current thought process; the identities that inform how you move through the world; and which will ultimately support in outlining a set of intentions and goals for our time together.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
