I work with your family collaboratively and I can help you parent when you feel at a loss.
I know this isn’t easy for you. Whether you are here because your child is struggling, you are struggling, or you need change, support, and direction … You don't have to struggle alone. This is the bravest thing you can do and I’m grateful you’re here. I can't change where you started, but I can help you gain the freedom to decide where you finish. You can do this. We can do this together. My goal is to help everyone that comes into their session feel comfortable and safe. This is a friendly way to therapy for children, teens, and adults alike.

People come to me with issues concerning relationships, parenting , depression and anxiety, loss, and all of life's challenging situations and transitions.
We all experience times in our lives when what once worked for us no longer does. We may become overwhelmed, anxious, fearful, or angry and are no longer able to ignore those feelings. Instead they get in our way. Talking to someone, especially one who listens to you carefully and joins you in a collaborative and supportive process, is amazingly helpful. People with whom I work note that they begin to feel better and less alone almost immediately.

I bring over 20 years of clinical experience to my practice as a psychotherapist. It is my belief that we each have a quiet place of truth within us that has been buried by the demands of life. Our habits and beliefs hold us back from our true nature and the life we desire. I work in the present moment to increase self awareness, uncover obstacles, and access this place of inner truth and strength. In my work with clients I often see individuals struggling with relationship conflicts, anxiety, depression, parenting concerns, life transitions, and the effects of trauma.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
