I know this isn’t easy for you. Whether you are here because your
child
is struggling, you are struggling, or you need change, support, and direction … You don't have to struggle alone. This is the bravest thing you can do and I’m grateful you’re here. I can't change where you started, but I can help you gain the freedom to decide where you finish. You can do this. We can do this together. My goal is to help everyone that comes into their session feel comfortable and safe. This is a friendly way to therapy for
children

Together we'll find the source of your
child
’s unhappiness so they can get unstuck and develop new habits - ones that move them forward.
There are legos all over the floor. And none of them seem to connect anymore. You shove them into a basket, but you know you’re just delaying the inevitable. It’s time to put the pieces back together before it’s too late. She’s a good kid, but now she’s constantly overwhelmed and goes from bubbly to upset in 60 seconds flat. Too much screen time, but it’s the only time she’s content. You worry for her, her future, and your relationship. You’re afraid of being a “bad mom.” It wasn’t supposed to be like this. You read all the parenting books. You’ve tried everything from punishment to outright bribery, but nothing works. Now what?

I work with
children
, adolescents, adults, seniors, and families.
Art therapy uses the creative process to identify and resolve thoughts, attitudes, and feelings that present obstacles to emotional and cognitive growth. Art is a language of symbols-the same language of symbols that our subconscious uses in dreams. At Creative Arts Therapy Studio, PLLC, artwork is created to give *voice* to the subconscious allowing patients to deepen insight, increase well-being and build the lives they want to live.

You or your
child
/teen have the power to make positive changes in order to live a happier, more fulfilling life. You may be thinking about improving relationships, coping more effectively with daily stress, or becoming more successful academically or in a career. Unfortunately, sometimes stress, anxiety, & depression make it difficult to make the changes you truly want. I aim to empower my clients so that they discover (or re-discover) the inner-strength needed to believe in themselves, learn new coping strategies, & achieve their goals.

Areas of expertise with
children
and adolescents include disruptive behavior disorders, attachment disorders, depression, anxiety, and the consequences of childhood physical and sexual abuse.
For me, psychotherapy is offering patience, understanding, insight, acceptance, compassion, relationship, and a secure base to persons suffering from burdens too heavy to carry alone. I compare myself to a container into which my patients pour their unbearable feelings. My task is to detoxify these feelings and make them easier to understand and tolerate. I help my patients to use healthy relationships with others to meet their emotional needs and the emotional needs of others. To establish and maintain healthy relationships, we work in session on understanding our own and others’ mental states (wishes, feelings, intentions) and how these are connected to how we behave toward each other. Relationships tend to work better when we are able to understand our own and others’ minds and how our minds influence how we behave toward each other.

Do you or your
child
struggle academically, emotionally, or socially? Does your school not provide necessary testing or learning accommodations and support? Or does your gifted or 2E
child
not receive the enrichment needed to achieve his or her full potential? Neuropsychological evaluations help students obtain the learning recommendations, school and testing accommodations, or enrichment needed for academic, emotional, and social growth. Clients and families also often find the assessment process therapeutic in itself, as it leads to understanding of individual strengths and weaknesses and clear diagnosis of any disabilities.

Childhood is difficult enough, but those who are have difficulty learning, socializing and have emotional difficulties face difficult challenges. Childhood disorders such as Autism, Asperger's , ADHD, and Learning Disorders affect a
child
's self-worth, school performance, socialization and emotional health. These complex disorders interfere with academic achievement, family harmony, and overall quality of life.
Children
with such difficulties and their family need professional guidance and therapeutic support from an expert in the field of

Homeopathy's inexpensive, FDA-approved remedies provide a safe alternative to psychotropic drugs for those suffering from anxiety or depression, and can provide a more gentle option for
children
challenged by ADHD/ADD.
I begin the collaboration with each person seeking my professional counsel by asking, "What is it you're not getting in your life that causes you pain?" Together, we explore the resources that will allow them to heal, change and grow. During the 30 years I have practiced psychotherapy, from a systemic or holistic perspective, I have assisted individuals, parents, couples, adolescents and caregivers to see and experience their lives differently.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
