Areas of expertise with adults include depression, anxiety, personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder, sex addiction, and partner betrayal trauma.
For me, psychotherapy is offering patience, understanding, insight, acceptance, compassion, relationship, and a secure base to persons suffering from burdens too heavy to carry alone. I compare myself to a container into which my patients pour their unbearable feelings. My task is to detoxify these feelings and make them easier to understand and tolerate. I help my patients to use healthy relationships with others to meet their emotional needs and the emotional needs of others. To establish and maintain healthy relationships, we work in session on understanding our own and others’ mental states (wishes, feelings, intentions) and how these are connected to how we behave toward each other. Relationships tend to work better when we are able to understand our own and others’ minds and how our minds influence how we behave toward each other.

My mental health experiences include work in hospital settings with adults and children, and in schools with children.
D.A.B Psychological Support is where mental health and social justice intersect to promote a journey of self-discovery into the power of our voices. Knowledge is power, and mental health is wealth. Both are essential as we strengthen our ability to advocate for ourselves and stand up for those whose voices have been historically marginalized. I am the CEO of D.A.B. Psychological Support, P.C. I am a licensed bilingual New York State psychologist who received my School-Clinical Doctorate from Pace University.

I get excited about helping people make progress with whatever they need to work with. I’ve lived in and around NYC my whole life-through 9/11 and now through this pandemic. If there’s one thing all of it has taught me, it’s how important is to cherish each moment and spend time with family & friends and to appreciate the people we have around us. My experiences along life’s journey have led me to this motto that guides my practice: Supporting Your Courage To Live Your Truth.

Modern life is uniquely challenging. We try to shape and mold ourselves into what we think we “should” be, and in doing so, we often lose touch with the most precious parts of ourselves. When we lose touch with these childlike parts, we keep ourselves from forming the close attachments that make life worth living. I work with my patients to help them embrace their natural curiosity, explore the existential questions that we push aside in daily life, challenge the negative self-talk that holds us back, and engage more fully in the pleasures that life can hold.

Having a safe place to explore and share your concerns is essential. The experience of being heard, seen and validated without judgment offers the possibility for real change. You are not alone, and sharing in connection will enable you to move on and to put obstacles, which may seem overwhelming, into perspective. I offer intuitive, empathic and interactive therapy using an eclectic approach informed by training in psychodynamic, relational, somatic mind body therapies and the use of expressive arts (art, movement, role-play, sound/music).

If you've been feeling stuck for a while, or are getting tired of knowing you're not at your best, it might be time to think about starting therapy. Many people know themselves enough to recognize that something is "off" and would benefit from talking through what they need to do to get to a better head space. You don't necessarily need a specific diagnosis or a specific goal in mind to know that you would like to start feeling better. Remember, "asking for help means you are strong enough to realize you deserve it."
