I am here for you as a gentle, patient, and empathic presence. We will figure this out together. Over the years I have cultivated my own holistic approach that is caring and inclusive. My scope of healing is larger in order to address the root causes of anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, conflict, and help navigate the intersectionality of the many unhealthy systems we are affected by in our troubled world.

Life is full of challenges and you deserve a nonjudgmental space to examine your patterns, feelings, and relationships with curiosity and compassion. As a former student of religion, I believe that pain is a part of life, and that we can deal with pain by creating narrative and understanding.Let’s examine the stories you have about yourself, rewrite that story, and explore what wellness looks like for you.

Do you often feel overwhelmed by work and the constant need to meet others' expectations, leaving little room for your own freedom and self-love? Do you frequently experience feelings of isolation and loneliness, making it hard to feel a true connection with others and the world around you? Do you find yourself stuck in the past, living in memories, and rarely able to be present and content with your current self? If you feel burdened by shouldering this emotional experience alone, I hope you can trust me with the opportunity to listen and participate in your life story.

In Holistic Psychotherapy I work with the whole of you – including your spirit and imagination, not just your worries. We will go beyond the confines of your talking/thinking apparatus and explore the imaginal/emotional worlds. I use Internal Family Systems therapy, where you “go inside” yourself to the parts of you that hold anxiety and depression, and relieve them of their burdens of pain. I also use the Clean Language approach, where you develop a “metaphor landscape" of what's going on inside, so that you reach a tipping point of change; and I use EFT, or "tapping," a body-based intervention that is founded in acupuncture.

We all have the potential for profound growth and transformation. Often, the patterns that once protected us, defense mechanisms formed in childhood to keep us safe, can stand between us and the life we envision. Through motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, person-centered work, and dialectical behavioral therapy, I help clients understand why they are the way they are. By exploring your past, healing suppressed painful experiences, and building self-compassion and forgiveness, we can work together to release mental blocks and align your actions with your deepest values, transforming your highest potential into reality.

As your therapist, I will listen to you with care, interest, empathy, presence and compassion. I will support your emotional healing in a way that respects who you are. I will support your personal strengths, and help you engage them as fully as possible. I agree with Rogers, who believes that when a person experiences unconditional acceptance and empathic understanding from someone who is genuine and real, healing and growth occur. My style is generated from various humanistic psychotherapies with an interest in the mind/body/spirit interrelation, combined with a grounding in classical theories.

I also incorporate mindfulness and spirituality.
Are you ready to let go of the old stories that have been keeping you captive for years? So many times we repeat the same loop over and over again unsure of how to shift in another direction. If you truly want to change and take accountability for your future, I may be the therapist for you. If you are here reading this then you have already taken steps towards healing and if you ask me, getting started is a triumph. I have supported individuals as they find their way towards closeness and safety with others after trauma over the last 15 years. It is possible to have relationships that feel good again.

As a Queer Latinx & spiritually-informed therapist, I recognize that spirituality/religiosity can or has been a source of healing and/or pain both individually and historically
“I bring a deep curiosity to help you explore your whole self—physical, emotional, social, and spiritual — as you work toward a fuller and intersectional understanding of yourself and the relationships around you. We’ll craft a space to process your experiences, gain awareness of your thoughts, behaviors and emotions, and envision a more integrated, liberating life." Before you’re connected with your therapist, our warm and skilled receptionist will reach out to confirm your insurance or out-of-pocket benefits. This helps us ensure a smooth and stress-free start to your care!

With over 20 years of experience as a holistic psychotherapist, I view every life as a sacred story that is open to interpretation, especially your own. In many ways, I consider myself a spiritual midwife of sorts, helping you emerge from difficult life transitions with more confidence, clarity, and compassion for yourself and others because, after all, we're only human. I take an intuitive, informed and sometimes playful approach to self discovery that respects each person's unique strengths, gifts, and situation. My clients often tell me they feel very seen and understood, and that my insights are very helpful.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
