My work is rooted in Somatic Experiencing (SE), Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed care.
Do you find yourself always feeling overwhelmed, giving to others and not finding time for yourself? Maybe you notice heaviness, tension, or a growing disconnect in your own body. You know you should put yourself first but slowing down, setting boundaries and prioritizing your needs seems impossible or you feel guilty. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. I specialize in helping women in leadership and helping professions heal from chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, and the lingering effects of trauma.

I work with clients with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety & to decrease screen time & get back to enjoying life organically. I do most of my work in person. I use modalities such as CBT & DBT in conjunction with more abstract remedies for emotional suffering, such as connection with spirituality, nature, movement, & music. I look to work with motivated clients who are serious about making change at this point in their lives. Whether someone works with me for 5 months or 5 years, my goal is to work with them to make lasting & sustainable changes that help them live a better life moving forward.

I come to this work with a background in psychology, art, and queer studies–fields that have always stretched the edges of my curiosity, asking not only how we suffer, but what it means. With a clinical focus in LGBTQIA+ affirming practice and an academic background in trans/gender expansive research and scholarship, I see therapy as a collaborative space to examine hopes, fears, and the impact of personal history while simultaneously equipping clients with the tools and skills to navigate the realities of their present lives.

For many people, life has never felt like more of a challenge. Maybe things were pretty good before the pandemic, but now you, your friends, your family, or your work are hard to recognize. Or maybe the pandemic has made already tight things much tighter. I work with teens and adults who struggle with motivation, identity, relationships, and finding and sustaining hope for a more stable and serene life. I use current psychological research to supplement traditional psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies.

You're thoughtful, creative, and resilient — and you had to be. You grew up navigating between worlds, carrying more than your share, figuring out who you are in spaces that weren't built for all of you. You've built a life you're proud of. Yet underneath, there are old hurts and patterns that weigh you down. Maybe it's family dynamics that still run you. Maybe it's the weight of your identity — your queerness, your race, the parts that never quite fit. I'm a queer Afro-Latina therapist who works with LGBTQ+ people of color — professionals, grad students, creatives — ready to heal, not just cope. You don't have to carry it alone.

I offer trauma-informed somatic psychotherapy and advanced brain-body therapies for high-achieving creatives and thoughtful adults.
Something isn’t flowing the way it used to. You may feel stuck or held back by past trauma, or be frustrated by an invisible creative block. Pressure to perform, perfectionism, or self-doubt can make visibility and expression feel fraught. You’re seeking steadiness, clarity, and a deeper sense of ease - so your creativity, relationships, and inner life can feel aligned and alive again.

I help people feel better and improve their lives with psychotherapy and music therapy. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, addiction or everyday stress with relationships, work or family. If you want a fluid and creative approach to therapy that helps you go deep to the core of your issues, I can help. I am particularly passionate about working with those who identify as LGBTQIA+, especially trans and GNC folx. In a world full of stigma, with so much pressure to conform to a heteronormative society, being trans or GNC can be an isolating and scary experience. I can help you on your journey to become your true self.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
