As a behavioral sleep specialist, I also provide treatment for sleep disorders, such as insomnia, shift changes, and chronic jet lag.

NOT currently accepting new clients. On leave Feb-May 2024. Starting therapy for the first time or re-initiating therapy after a break can be daunting; but most things worth doing involve some risk. Many of my clients are quite successful, but are unsatisfied with certain aspects of their life such as self-confidence, mood, relationships, or sleep. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult period of your life, relief from anxiety, rest from your struggle with insomnia, regained security after a traumatic event, healing after a loss, or simply deeper self-knowledge: Therapy is a risk worth taking.

I enjoy helping people sleep and new mothers navigate transitions. I work with patients struggling with stress and mood problems that often rob them of sleep. I love to see patients try something new in their day-to-day life and see the negative cycle of poor sleep and bad days turn into sleep and daytime confidence. I also enjoy working with people seeking therapy for fertility, pregnancy and postpartum-related concerns. In this area, I seek to help families process the complicated challenges that come with family planning, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood.

Some skills a healer can learn. Others, like compassion and innate understanding of another's inner workings, one must be born with. My focus is on treating anxiety, insomnia, stress and depression using a non-drug based meld of hypnosis/NLP, acupuncture and hormonal balancing. The result of nearly three decades of experience, my book on how to help navigate these issues is "Rewired for Sleep, The 28 Day Insomnia Repair Program" (2020). In it, I clarify that insomnia is usually a symptom of other, repairable problems. Time permitting, I am seeing new patients and happily offer a free consultation.

I also help folks manage sleep disorders, chronic pain, cancer, and other health issues.
Are you feeling burnt out and exhausted from all the demands and stresses in your life? It’s hard to feel good when you’re feeling depleted and overwhelmed. Life doesn’t have an easy mode for most of us. Stress, trauma, and loss can make it hard to stay on top of our responsibilities and manage problems like anxiety, and depression. Despite the challenges that have gotten you down lately, you don’t have to be stuck here. You can heal all parts of you and reclaim your sense of wholeness and worthiness.

We are a group of clinical psychologists offering cognitive-behavioral approaches to help clients realize their full potential. Cognitive behavioral therapy provides practical tools to help people overcome obstacles. We work with adults, children and adolescents stuck by emotions such as anxiety, sadness, fear or anger. Many of our clients also come to us with the burden of worrisome, disturbing thoughts. Others are managing behaviors like insomnia, procrastination, anger outbursts and addictive or repetitive behaviors. Attention disorders may also impede the success of children and adults. Many just have difficulty coping with the stress of daily life and the demands of a fast paced city.

I use a practical approach to treat problems such as anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders that may keep us from what we desire.
Therapy is an experience that can benefit everyone. It allows us to take the time to look closely at ourselves. It can help us manage difficult life changes and improve our relationships. Everyone experiences stress and worry, and speaking with a psychologist who is nonjudgmental and objective can help us understand how to achieve our professional, personal, and relationship goals.

I’m an experienced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia provider.
I specialize in anxiety, insomnia and life purpose because they’re challenges I’ve personally overcome. I help people find the exit ramp out of anxiety. I understand how much the race for external validation has cost you. Living in repeating cycles of overwhelm, avoiding, then shaming yourself for it. You wonder if you have to live with the physical symptoms and insomnia forever. And the highest cost of all – you never got to know yourself. Paradoxically, your anxiety is actually a flashing signal to change. Work with me and discover the way back to you. And, if it feels like chronic insomnia has taken over your life, there’s hope.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
