I was trained at Columbia University, and have over twenty years of experience in treating a variety of problems, including self-esteem issues, loneliness and interpersonal difficulties, as well as the many effects of early trauma.
If you have found your way here, chances are you are feeling unhappy, lonely, worried, misunderstood or even mistreated. As a clinical psychologist, I believe that no one should feel alone with such painful feelings. I invite you to contact me, so that together we can address the difficulties that are causing you distress and interfering with your well-being. Although the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, I aim to help you feel as comfortable as possible.

I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with anxiety, panic disorders, low self-esteem, and the impact of trauma.
I take an integrative approach that utilizes evidence-based strategies for symptom relief, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and pair them with a deeply held desire to understand the root cause of the issues that an individual may be dealing with.

I believe in the individual's unique experience. We all have parts of ourselves that we don't recognize, don't understand, or simply feel we cannot change. In our nonjudgmental, safe space and with you as the captain, we will discover what is causing the difficulties in your life, and how you can grow into a more fulfilling way of living. At times, I will challenge you to dig deeper, but I will support you every step of the way.

Your brain is always on—spinning, solving, jumping between ideas. You’re capable and driven, but staying organized or focused can feel like a full-time job. You start strong, then hit a wall, and wonder why simple things feel so hard. Rest doesn’t always recharge you, and downtime often turns into guilt or distraction. You’re tired of masking, overcompensating, and wondering what’s wrong with you when nothing really is. You just need tools that work with your ADHD brain, not against it. You want more calm, clarity, and self-trust—and to feel like yourself again, without the constant pressure to keep up.

Sometimes our environments feel so loud that we adapt by living in a reactive state to what's going on around us, rather than attuning to what's within us. We can intellectually know ourselves and the world we want, but not emotionally embody ourselves and our desires. This can feel like a tiring loop that often manifests in depressive, anxious, and perfectionistic tendencies. We can change this! Learn how to relate to your emotions in a new way, where they support your ability to cultivate a fully alive life stemming from within YOUR mind-body-heart-spirit!

Human suffering can take many forms: loneliness, despair, addiction, trauma, low self-esteem, or questions of identity and belonging.
Much of my work focuses on identity, belonging, self-worth, and the impact of trauma. A central part of this has been with gay men, whose experiences of shame, recognition, and resilience have shaped my understanding of how therapy can create a space to be seen, understood, and transformed.

When someone asks how you are, the words 'exhausted' or 'so busy' come to mind. Trying to be all things to all people is wreaking havoc on you. But you don't answer; you can't wait to change the subject & focus on something or someone else. It's a welcome distraction to focus on other people who come to you with their problems; besides, you like to help, it makes you feel good. But you have worries, too. Good sleep is a luxury these days. Anxiety is no longer fuel for your never-ending to-do list; it's now getting in the way & sucking the fun out of everything. You're ready to stop pretending it's not wearing you out. I can help.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
