In treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, relationship issues and other problems, I use psychodynamic approach, CBT, Transactional Analysis,Existential and Gestalt therapy approaches.
For 40 years, psychotherapy has been not just my profession but a way of understanding people. My work began in small expedition groups in near-extreme conditions, where steadiness, patience, and the ability to hear what remains unspoken were essential. I later continued my practice in New York, working with adults and couples facing stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. For over 30 years in the U.S., my focus has been individual and couples therapy. I offer a calm, grounded space where clients can regain stability and move toward lasting change.

My professional training was split between the gestalt and psychodynamic traditions, which both inform my approach to treatment.
I look to cultivate a space for vulnerability and healing by focusing on the present together. This space allows folks to make contact with their deeper selves and experience how they relate to both themselves and others. By attuning to this awareness together, we can face your most rejected parts, develop insight into what matters most, and process your suffering with safety and support. We do this by focusing on all parts of your experience, exploring how your past continues to affect your present, and challenging the ways we repress and avoid—all the while fostering a relationship that is nonjudgemental, safe, and accepting.

I am currently in post-graduate training at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy Institute, working toward certification in Gestalt Therapy.
As a Black female Licensed Mental Health Clinician with nearly five years of experience, I hold deep respect for the ways culture, identity, and intergenerational experiences shape us.
I bring curiosity, compassion, and cultural awareness to our work. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, self-worth, trauma, or life transitions, this is a space where you don’t have to perform, shrink, or hide.
Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process or a formal set of instructions meant to simply hand you tools and skills. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you. It’s about coming home to yourself.

I am trained in the following therapy Models: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Body-Centered Gestalt Therapy, EMDR and the Intuitive Healers Training Program.
Life often feels harder than it needs to. We have so many balls in the air, and constant juggling often leads to anxiety, self-doubt, and anger. It can be hard to be a good parent and spouse, to meet the expectations of friends colleagues and family, all while trying to meet our own needs. No wonder we find ourselves lost, unfulfilled and disconnected. If it seems like you don't know which way to turn, you've come to the right place.

I use a Gestalt approach, where your experience in the moment and our therapeutic relationship are prioritized.
You can keep it together, but inside, you feel stuck. You replay conversations, second-guess yourself, or get caught in patterns that never seem to change, no matter how hard you try to figure things out. You might even worry something is wrong with you. The ways you’ve learned to cope may have helped you survive, but now they can hold you back. Many of our current struggles come from earlier experiences we didn’t have the tools or support to process.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
