I specialize in supporting Black women who are descendants of enslaved people.
Life can be overwhelming. But, you don't have to do it alone. As your therapist, I commit to meeting you where you are with compassion, non-judgement and warmth. I support those in my practice by deepening their internal understanding, recognizing unhelpful patterns, and transitioning into new life stages. My clients are often juggling demanding careers and family needs, amid life's many stressors. They are labeled the ‘strong, dependable' members of their families. My clients are moms, mother figures, grandmothers, aunts, caregivers, and mentors. They are the pillars, others lean on.

I am a middle eastern, queer, woman who recognizes that we do not leave our social identities at the door before we enter therapy.
I believe we long to be ourselves in a society that socializes us to feel and internalize inadequacy. We often find ourselves recreating patterns as a means to cope. Perhaps you have done some self-reflection and are seeking a deeper understanding or have not yet had the opportunity to explore and bring these patterns into awareness at all. In joining with you wherever you may be, I aim to help you strengthen your emotional awareness and develop a greater sense of introspection. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples around various interrelated concerns including disordered eating, body image, depression, self-worth, anxiety,

While I work with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life, I hold a special passion for supporting Black and Brown women as they reclaim their strength and voices.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and rooted in trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and a person-centered framework. Together, we’ll identify patterns that no longer serve you, using cognitive-behavioral tools to foster meaningful change. I also emphasize self-care and emotional safety as pillars of healing and growth.

I work with women, children and adolescents.
This process can be hard and challenging. I am here to walk with you and, although I will challenge you, I will make sure we move at the pace that is right for you. Much of the work will include examining and healing from trauma using psychodynamic approaches; however, sessions are truly guided by you.

I specialize in Mindful Psychotherapy for Women’s Life Transitions.
"What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" asked the poet, Mary Oliver. I've been thinking about this every day since the first time I read it. It's some question, isn't it? Sometimes it inspires me. Sometimes it frightens me. Since it always challenges me, I've rooted my practice philosophy in it. It's kind of like the adult version of “what do you want to be when you grow up”? How in the world do we answer that?

It's completely normal to feel anxious especially for men and women who haven't grown up in families in which they were encouraged to talk about their feelings and experiences.
I have 30+ years experience as a clinical psychologist. My practice primarily involves adults who are struggling with relationship issues, work problems, anxiety, depression, or just a vague sense that something is wrong or missing in their lives. Many patients started treatment feeling unmotivated, empty, or cut off from their emotional life. It has been very gratifying to see patients in treatment learn to be comfortable talking about themselves and connecting with others in a different and gratifying way. I do believe that deep down everybody cares about his own story and wants to understand his own thoughts and feelings.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
