Most of us don't welcome difficult emotions; we try to disregard them, because we perceive them as our enemy. In fact, all of our emotions are signals that inform us about ourselves and the world around us, if we can learn to listen to them. When we accept all sides of ourselves and all of our feelings without discriminating against the negative ones, we are able to feel emotionally alive and connected. Psychological suffering occurs not because of our painful emotions, but because we try to erase them, and don't know what to do with them.

I work with individuals who often appear to have things together on the outside, yet sense that something internally feels off or increasingly difficult to manage. Together, we create a space to better understand those experiences, regain clarity and develop a more grounded and intentional way of moving through life. In a world that can feel complex and overwhelming, having a trusted ally to think with you, challenge you and support your growth can make a meaningful difference.

In addition to individual psychotherapy, I provide therapy to couples and families, and facilitate process groups.
People often find me in moments when they feel trapped and hopeless about finding a way out. Together, we unpack the symptoms carried in mind and body, and embark on an exploration that reawakens a sense of curiosity about the factors that led to the present, alleviating suffering and reintroducing a sense of vitality.

Searching for a therapist on psychology today reminds me of street art, particularly the cryptic letters of graffiti, in the sense that one is looking into a mystifyingly crowded city scene to find a professional someone who shows that they speak your private language like no one else has before. Yet that someone else also shows in their being that they can continue to speak and develop the words, sentences, even hieroglyphic-like mysteries that just can’t quite come together into meaning, with yourself now, or in conversation with others, no matter how close you are or were with them.

Finding a psychologist who is a good fit, especially at the time of emotional crisis can be challenging. To find someone who is empathic, but also direct and firm, who is not afraid to call you out when you most need it, someone who understands the real life challenges of being a parent, teen, or young adult and who approaches challenges with a sense of humor and compassion, someone who has the right training, expertise, and schedule, can be daunting, to say the least. I am a CBT/DBT trained and practicing psychologist who is compassionate and direct.

I’ve worked with clients facing profound life stressors, including death of family members, separation, divorce, job loss, and medical illness.
My therapeutic approach is significantly informed by my first career as a lawyer representing domestic violence survivors. This led to a desire to enter post-graduate psychoanalytic training and gave me a unique perspective on the potentially transformative power of therapy. I tailor sessions to suit your needs in working toward clear treatment objectives.

I am a queer, nonbinary South Asian clinician who works with fellow QTBIPoC individuals who are looking to explore their intersectionality, as well as any queer folks looking to gain insight into dominant group identities in service of stronger allyship. I also feel uniquely positioned to work with partners navigating mixed-identity and/or non-traditionally structured relationships, neurodivergent folks coping under capitalism and children of immigrants breaking generational curses. I specialize in complex developmental, racial and relational trauma and work through a predominantly somatic lens.

My work with adults has inspired me to support couples, children, and families.
Sometimes emotions and experiences are hard to speak, see and feel. As someone who wishes to support those sitting in front of me in whatever their struggle is, I think deep listening requires getting involved in how life is right now and maybe how it's always been, or felt. That means, I really want to know how you experience your life. Sometimes learning this involves different ways of understanding through your words and ideas, but also sometimes it involves being seen in your everyday struggle. This process can be vulnerable, frustrating, and liberating to see more clearly. Connection, acceptance and empathy bring peace of mind.

I have years of experience helping clients deal with anxiety, depression and anger problems and with couples who are looking to reduce marital conflict. When new clients call me they are looking for help in coping so they can feel better and handle their life challenges more effectively. Some people are looking for understanding of what happened and how they got here, and some are more interested in learning coping skills quickly, and most want some combination of both approaches. I listen to what their individual wants and needs and plan accordingly.

Picture this: a welcoming and safe space where you can kick back and chat about whatever's on your mind. I get it. I've been there - and I'm all about empowering you. Low self-esteem? Feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Life inherently can bring so many complexities and challenges, perhaps you’re not sure where to start. Whatever it is, let's tackle it together with an approach rooted in genuine understanding and empowerment. Together, we'll unravel the layers, challenge those negative self-perceptions, and build a foundation of self-worth. I'm not here to just talk; I'm here to guide you in discovering the strength within yourself.

I’ve trained and worked extensively with both children and adults, and I have expertise in working with issues related to disordered eating/low body-esteem, interpersonal difficulties (including family conflicts and romantic or peer relationships), anxiety, and depression.
I practice primarily from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, which means that I try to understand the whole person and all of the experiences that have led them to their present moment. Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, I aim to help us better understand how the symptoms developed so that we can address the root causes. I believe every therapeutic relationship is unique and collaborative. I bring expertise and a set of skills to the relationship, but I also know that the patient brings their own expertise in the form of critical information related to their goals, experiences, emotions, and self reflections.

I have post-graduate training in couple, child, and family therapy, psychodynamic therapy, meditation techniques, trauma work, and have specialized training in the creative/performing arts and music.
Although some struggle is an inevitable part of life, there is the danger of accepting continual pain & struggle as "the way life is". This way of thinking can keep a person trapped, unable to even imagine what "better" would look like. Therapy offers a way out. For some, the traumas suffered in the past make it difficult to find happiness. Others may find themselves behaving in ways that leave them feeling worse, or once again in the same hurtful relationships. Some may be consumed with regrets about past mistakes, or filled with fear of the future, missing opportunities to live well in the present.

I’ve spent over 25 years helping people navigate the world of relationship-building and dating. Questions I often get are: How do I get unstuck? How do I get past the second date? Why do I consistently feel unseen in my relationships? I translate decades of clinical expertise into practical tools and actionable advice that you can use immediately to create and sustain intimacy. Whether it is preparing for your first date or feeling unheard by your partner of many years, my goal is to build insight into the patterns that hold you back and develop strategies that actually work to change them.

If it's anxiety, relationships or the pressures from family and culture, we'll slow down, get honest about what's really going on, and start untangling the patterns keeping you stuck.
Maybe you're holding it together on the outside, showing up for everyone around you, checking the boxes. But inside? You're feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. You're tired of carrying the weight of other people's expectations, relationship stress, or things you've never had the space to sort through. You're dealing with the space between how you show up in the world and how you actually feel.
