As a therapist with a disability, I have a deep appreciation for life's challenges, pain, loss and suffering. I have learned the art of "transforming obstacles into opportunities," with the help of my guide dog Faith, as she literally guides me around obstacles, and has enhanced my life, turning around an otherwise insurmountable feat. Decades of clinical and life experience, keen intuition, along with compassion and a holistic, evidenced-based approach, and a sense of humor, are some of the key ingredients leading my clients towards feeling better, finding direction and actualizing potential.

There is no ideal client. Each client is a unique subject who has been shaped by an infinitely complex set of circumstances; family , culture and inherited predispositions. The one thing that they have in common is that somehow there is a sense that things are somehow not right and yet still entertain a suspicion that things can improve. Working in an open, honest and interactive way, marked by curiosity, compassion and courage we will work together to discover patterns and styles that hinder the experience of joy, intimacy and achievement. Together we will work to overcome the crisis of debilitating guilt, anxiety and depression.

I have an eclectic therapy style, but primarily employ Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic theory to support our work.
Welcome to my page! I'm glad you're here. The decision to seek out therapy often happens during a particularly difficult moment in life. Whatever has brought you to seek out therapy, it should feel like a safe environment where you are treated as the greatest expert of your own life experience. I bring extensive knowledge of LGBTQ+ communities, as well as expertise on the unique issues faced by non-monogamous people, sex workers, and kink/BDSM-aligned individuals.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults who are suffering from mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, body image/eating issues, struggles related to sexuality, family conflict, substance abuse and grief.
Asking for help is not easy, so congratulations on taking the first step toward self-improvement and fulfillment. Through our partnership, I hope to help you better understand yourself in terms of how you function in your personal relationships, and help you see patterns that may be causing distress. My style is one that primarily focuses on empathy and insight. Though talking about issues that come up in therapy may initially be difficult, with time you will notice you are seeing yourself in a new light, and that you are able to accomplish positive change.

My specialties include anxiety, depression, relationship and social issues, family conflict, parenting, academic underachievement, school pressure, coping skills, life transitions, stress, infertility, grief, loss, career and creative work conflicts.
As a psychotherapist, I provide a safe environment for reflection where discovering and exploring fixed patterns that hinder you from realizing goals can lead to awareness. We all have parts of ourselves that we do not understand and feel that we cannot change, often leaving us feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Telling your story and gaining deeper understanding of yourself can have transforming effects on your life. I work with patients facing problems in love, work, family , school, issues with self-esteem, identity, and trauma. My analytic training makes me a skilled and empathic listener, helping to identify themes that lead to insights and more choices.

Dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, lack of motivation or family disfunction can feel impossible to deal with.
Many people (13+) I work with are typically experiencing worry, anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, identity issues, relationship issues, addiction, low self-esteem, boundary concerns, and family discord. I offer kind and compassionate care while working together to encourage, support, and guide towards healthier solutions. Finding healthy ways to cope, regulate emotions, and communicate more effectively, are ways to find balance and peace within the world you live. We can work on this together, I would be honored to help in any way I can.

By becoming engaged and working with a solution-focused therapist, you will begin to uncover your child's and/or your family 's potential. You will begin to engage in a life that is worth celebrating, not merely tolerating. Throughout the growth cycles of children and adolescents, they often have many behavioral issues. This includes ADHD, unresolved stress, unsupported grief, addiction/recovery issues. Families of all types can have these ongoing struggles. Conflict resolution is paramount between family members. In addition, counseling the parents re: their own depression, anxiety or personality issues is paramount to completing the cycle of ongoing family distress.

If you are South Asian American, listen up: Being your own person does not make you less of a Brown person; it makes you a more genuine one. If you have been ever labeled the "Black sheep" of your community or family , been told that you are too "Whitewashed", "Too South Asian", or "Not Brown enough", you've come to the right place. Maybe you've struggled to belong in your community, but you belong right here! That's why I go by "The Bad Indian Therapist", because as someone who was raised Indian and Catholic, I've also been called these things too. We won't fit anyone's definition of "South Asian", so let's be "bad" together!

I've helped patients work through various issues including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, career transitions, family conflict, and relationship concerns.
The decision to enter therapy represents an important investment in improving the quality of your life. I believe that therapy is a dynamic, creative process that centers on the questions you would like to explore and the changes you wish to make within yourself. In the context of a safe and nonjudgmental space, we will explore patterns in your life and how your past experiences have contributed to your current concerns. Together, we will replace problematic coping strategies with effective ones; discover new perspectives on recurring issues; and come to a deeper understanding of yourself and others.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
