I welcome all the aspects of yourself that you bring to treatment. You are greater than the problem that brings you here, which is why I see my work as creating a place for you to discover your capacity to heal. Trying to describe what is bringing you to therapy can be daunting, let alone beginning the work of engaging and shifting its weight. I will work with you on identifying this, and understanding what is causing the difficulty. In the process of listening and clarifying the impasse together, we will open new possibilities in your life.

Sometimes our environments feel so loud that we adapt by living in a reactive state to what's going on around us, rather than attuning to what's within us. We can intellectually know ourselves and the world we want, but not emotionally embody ourselves and our desires. This can feel like a tiring loop that often manifests in depressive, anxious, and perfectionistic tendencies. We can change this! Learn how to relate to your emotions in a new way, where they support your ability to cultivate a fully alive life stemming from within YOUR mind-body-heart-spirit!

I listen closely and on multiple levels to the people with whom I work. I want to hear how you think, how you experience the world, and how you feel. I'm fascinated by how psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis, can be thought of as processes of democratic empowerment and how we can create together movement towards freeing your desire and intuition to serve as guides for you. Whatever array of symptoms (anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, trauma) that you struggle with, we will seek to unlock the hold they have on you so that you may gain greater personal freedom, creativity, and clarity around your sense of purpose and destiny.

Psychoanalytic therapy is often maligned in popular media but it remains for me one of the few treatments that seeks to address the innermost, often hidden, parts of ourselves. Psychological symptoms are not only a source of suffering, they are also a message that speaks to desires, conflicts, and pain, wrought by a personal history that can sometimes only come alive when spoken to a professional listening other. The flip-side of anxiety is always a passionate dream that has not been encountered as such. I see my work as bringing my clients closer to that possibility. The intimacy of speaking and listening is rare and a gift.

I believe in the power of therapy as journeys towards self-discovery and healing, and therapy can be transformative. Every person is special and that makes our time together unique and valuable. I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their concerns and work towards their goals. I want to partner with my clients to create an environment where they feel heard, validated, and empowered. Together, we uncover inner resources, build resilience, and work towards making informed choices that align with their values and goals.

Do you feel stuck repeating the same patterns, unsure as to why you feel anxious, depressed, or unsatisfied? Therapy can help us uncover some of the agency and authority we do have - allowing us to understand how our past experiences might be alive in the present, and how we might make different choices for our present and future. It is a process that asks you to challenge yourself and make a commitment to your well-being, and I believe that a supportive therapeutic relationship that helps you feel safe to truly examine yourself can foster immense growth.

Anxiety, feelings of insecurity, trauma and complicated relationship struggles are part of the human condition. When these vulnerabilities become overwhelming, psychotherapy can be an invaluable resource that can help you not only regain a previous sense of balance but emerge from the experience a more resilient and grounded person. Crisis and inner turmoil are often a response to life transitions, stress or adverse events that call on our creativity. Psychotherapy is a process of finding your way to the creative and agentic capacities within yourself, in a context of a safe relationship.

Do you ever feel that you just want to hide? Everything seems so overwhelming. You forget to breathe. Your friends invite you out and you say no, but what you really want to say is yes. You continue to miss opportunities and always think about excuses to come up with to avoid being in situations that make you feel uncomfortable. You are lonely and often feel isolated, but it feels so scary to put yourself out there. You are not even sure who you really are outside of your worries. You feel that no one can really understand you or what you are going through.

For over 25 years I have helped individuals and couples resolve their problems resulting in leading more satisfying lives. As a certified psychotherapist/psychoanalyst , with a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology my treatment approach is psychodynamic. My ideal patient is one who desires a change in their own lives as well as how they relate to others. Often as a result of therapy I have seen individuals internalize their treatment by remembering what was said. Many leave with a sense of mastery and accomplishment in coping with adversity. As a member of psychotherapy and psychoanalytical institutes I train others in the field.
