I also use
Art Therapy
to help clients access parts of themselves that cannot be easily described with verbal language.
Maintaining our mental health requires a holistic approach. One that includes taking care of not only our mind but our body as a whole. That is why I treat my clients using a combination of talk therapy, body-based methods, mindfulness and naturopathic guidance. When healing trauma, simply putting things into words is not sufficient and could in fact be triggering. For this reason, I employ a Somatic Experiencing method to help clients safely access and work through their emotions and traumas stored in their muscle memory, which promotes healing of a wide range of conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and childhood abuse.

Together we’ll work toward your goals through an integration of evidence-based practices, including talk therapy,
art therapy
, cognitive behavioral techniques, and mindfulness exercises.
Finding “the right match” often creates additional stress when deciding to start therapy, and for good reason: we want to feel connected to the person we’ll speak to on a weekly basis. We want to feel seen and understood, especially in our most vulnerable state. As a New York-based psychotherapist and
art
therapist, I enjoy the process of getting to know my clients and recognize that a solid relationship is essential for personal growth in therapy. I bring empathy, warmth, and a healthy dose of humor to the therapy space to connect with my clients and foster an environment that feels safe, authentic, and supportive.

As a trauma-informed
art
therapist, I use
art
as a "power tool" to help clients, in all life-stages, work through creative blocks, fears, addictions, loss and whatever prevents you from living your most fulfilling life.
Art
is a "whole brain activity", giving us immediate access to self-regulation, attunement, intuitive wisdom and new perspectives. No
art
experience is needed and the process is equally effective online, using simple
art
materials from home. My integrated and collaborative approach to
art therapy
begins with listening deeply to understand and connect with clients and providing a safe and non-judgmental environment.

I am trained in
Art
psychotherapeutic and nature based ecotherapies.
My clients are postcolonial, queer, subaltern, disabled, invisibilised survivors of everyday microagressions or complex trauma. Like my clients I am polycultural, multilingual, queer and attuned to queries on acculturation, multiple social identities, identity shifting, parenting minority or neuroatypical children, intercultural couples, as well as accidental, disabling or climacteric transitions. My clients want to come to terms with their complexities — those invalidated because of primary or secondary socialisation. Exploring symbolic language allows for production of new knowledge of self and self-(re)actualisation. Paris based.

What if at the end of your therapy session, you felt good, you felt empowered, and felt that you had a sense of direction? Counseling helps in various ways to work through the unspeakable events or emotions in a person's life. Clients are encouraged to create tangible goals for themselves to work on between sessions, which helps to create coping skills and continuity of healing/treatment outside of their sessions. Clients also have the option to participate in more expressive forms of therapy, including the use of
art
materials.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
