I worked with clients who struggled with substance abuse, anxiety,
anger management
and domestic violence.
As a mental health counselor (MHC-LP), I believe that everyone needs a safe space and trusted person to share their personal struggles. My style of counseling firstly focuses on the counselor client relationship. Using person centered approaches, I provide a safe space, where we as counselor and client develop a rapport, so you feel heard and understood. Once a trusting rapport is established, I will work with you at your own pace, through the stages of change, to help you accomplish your goals and achieve overall wellness.

Are you grieving, feeling sad or depressed, anxious, have uncontrollable
anger
or feelings of low self-esteem? These and other forms of inner conflict can be overwhelming and debilitating. They can cause physical pain as well as fatigue, sleeplessness, eating disorders and a host of other symptoms and behaviors. Psychotherapy can address these issues and help you to lead a more peaceful and fulfilling life. Finding the right therapist is crucial and can be challenging. Location and insurance are practical concerns, but should not be the primary consideration. The rapport between you and your therapist is key to successful treatment.

I am a cognitive psychologist -- a practical person who will help you understand: What are your goals, and what is blocking you from reaching them? We'll work together to get a handle on how your thoughts may be impeding your progress, and, more importantly, how to adjust your thoughts to increase your chances of success.

I am psychoanalyst with over 15 years of experience working with individuals and couples. If you’re feeling like something is missing and finding it difficult these days to feel grounded in yourself, I want to help you figure out what’s getting in the way so you can feel like your true self again. Unresolved grief, trauma, feelings of abandonment, shame, and
anger
can hide in the unconscious mind and keep us stuck in toxic patterns that ruin relationships, sex and our sense of self. Anxiety, fear, and unmanaged stress can wreak havoc on our ability to hold on to a sense of hope.

anger
and stress, enhancing relationships and treating various types of psychological distress.
I fully believe that the solutions to the challenges that we face are most often to be found within each one of us. Of course, we all need some assistance now and then, and this is where psychotherapy is extremely helpful for many people. Yet it is in the wisdom, resources, strengths, internal resiliency, creativity, humor, self-awareness and faith we have gained from life that we find what we need. I offer you my sincere interest, professional expertise, and knowledge of effective ways that people grow and change to aid you in enjoying a meaningful, productive and rewarding life.

You may be losing interest in many things. You feel your
anger
is uncontrollable. Many times, you find yourself believing you don't matter or feeling low self-worth. This might include it being difficult to say you love yourself. If any of this sounds familiar, then I can help.

Contacting a therapist can feel awkward and scary. Be assured that your internal and external life can and will improve. We can work at a pace you feel comfortable with. We all want freedom from our emotional pain. Worries or anxiety,
anger
or depression, insomnia, relationship conflict or traumatic memories may lead to escape or excessive dependence upon externals like food, substances, events, experiences and relationships for relief. Escape never leads to peace. Thankfully, we all can learn to find a dependable source of peace inside, in our minds and hearts, no matter the external circumstances. I can help you get there.

Hi, thank you for stopping by. Breaking unhealthy patterns of behavior. Struggling with a (recent or past) traumatic event. Working on your
anger
or other emotions that get in the way of achieving goals. Learning how to set boundaries. Gaining insight about yourself. Learning more effective ways to communicate at work or in your personal relationship. Can't vent to friends or family anymore. All of these are the right reasons for therapy. This is the first step towards feeling better, thinking better, working better and living better.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
